We’ll beat them.
Like all bad sides do we’ll drag them down to our level & be to good at playing at that level.:rolling_eyes::joy::joy:

I understand your thought and it almost happened last week to a hapless Sharks side but don't forget the Mary magic.

The 2019 Dragons natural home is 15th on the ladder. Cowboys trying their best in race to the bottom but there is an unique nexus of fail in our club that cannot be stopped this year.

Go ahead, bet on the Roosters and get that free money from the TAB.

Throwback Thursday: Round 23 v Roosters

Historically, the Dragons' regular season clashes against the Sydney Roosters are the biggest of any given year thanks to the Anzac Day Cup. Beyond that though, plenty of memorable efforts remain on the highlight reel to this day.

St George Illawarra Dragons 32 defeated Sydney Roosters 8
Grand final. Sunday, October 3, 2010
ANZ Stadium

The biggest day in the joint-venture's history thus far. The Dragons' 32-8 demolition job of the Sydney Roosters was a long time coming.

Mark Gasnier's try after eight minutes proved the best possible start, although the Roosters would hit back with two tries in quick succession via Braith Anasta and Mitch Aubusson.

Down 8-6 at half-time, the Dragons – for the third time in 2010 – would keep the Roosters scoreless in the second half as the likes of Jason Nightingale (twice), Dean Young and Nathan Fien scored.

Darius Boyd would win the Clive Churchill Medal. Ben Hornby would hold aloft the Provan-Summons Trophy and the Dragons faithful would celebrate the end of a 31-year premiership hiatus.

St George Illawarra Dragons 26 defeated Sydney Roosters 24
Round 7. Monday, April 25, 2005
Aussie Stadium

Mat Head's finest hour in the NRL, the 2005 Anzac Cup clash.

While it ended with a special chip-and-chase try assist for Dragons centre Matt Cooper and a successful conversion from out wide, Head's two penalty goals also proved very important to the end result.

In fact, Head kick-started proceedings with an early penalty goal before the Roosters hit back courtesy of Chris Walker (twice) and Anthony Minichiello.

Head was in thick of things just before the break when a kick back inside bounced favourable for Hornby to score his second of the afternoon and put the Dragons within six at half-time.

Dragons lock Shaun Timmins and Roosters centre Ryan Cross scores tries in the second stanza, Red V firebrand Justin Poore and Tricolours larrikin Brett Finch traded punches and all the while Head came out looking a million bucks with two clutch plays in the final three minutes.

St George Illawarra Dragons 20 defeated Sydney Roosters 16
Round 9. Saturday, May 1, 1999
WIN Stadium, Wollongong

The first ever clash between the new joint-venture and the Sydney Roosters occurred two months into the 1999 season in front of the Wollongong faithful.

The Dragons' four-point win over the Roosters would prove one of the most important in the inaugural campaign given their 4-4 start.

Sitting just outside the eight, the Dragons had to hang tough with the then competition leaders; a team that included rugby league greats Brad Fittler, Adrian Lam and Luke Ricketson (who all scored tries on the day.)

Alas! An Anthony Mundine double and further tries to Trent Barrett and Nathan Blacklock would prove the difference.

Cameron McInnes tipped to lead St George Illawarra to future success
Dragons Den

Future leader: Cameron McInnes has been tipped to lead the Dragons in the coming years. Picture: AAP Image/Steve Christo.
After watching Cameron McInnes pull off yet another try-saving tackle on Sunday, retiring Dragons forward Jeremy Latimore is confident the hooker is the man to lead the club back to the NRL finals in the coming years.

McInnes' drive to do everything he can for his team was on show in the loss to the Sharks, the hooker managing to stop a charging Bronson Xerri, who looked certain to score.

The tackle received wide praise from McInnes' Dragons teammates, with Latimore saying his efforts are inspiring to watch.

"He's one of the players who, just at training, he's always 100 per cent," Latimore said. "He cares so much, he works so hard and you can see that coming off in how he plays.

"There was the Rabbitohs game where he does the charge down and sprints 40 metres up the field after playing 70-odd minutes and beats two outside backs to the ball.

"Then on the weekend, I don't think you'd find many players in the NRL who could make that tackle.

"Cam, who's not trained to tackle like that, one-on-one on the line, it was an unbelievable effort. It's a shame we couldn't get the win and look back on that as a massive play in the game."

While his Dragons teammates, and even Roosters halfback Cooper Cronk, were quick to shower the hooker with praise, McInnes has spent little time celebrating the tackle.

Instead, in his drive to continually improve his game, the 25-year-old has focused on the error he made shortly afterwards.

"I knew it was coming and I was lucky to get underneath the ball," McInnes said. "Unfortunately though, we worked our way back up the field, then I threw an offload on tackle two and they were straight back down there.

"That was the story of our night, coming up with plays for each other, then putting ourselves back under pressure. We need to be much better there."

"That's where I need to get better going forward, my footy smarts, making the right play at the right time. The best hookers do that, they don't put their sides back under pressure, that's what I need to be working towards."

Since his arrival at the club in 2017, McInnes has developed into a future captain.

Contracted until the end of 2021, the Dragons are planning on building their future around McInnes and the effort and commitment he brings to every match.

While McInnes simply shrugs off such efforts as a routine part of his job, Latimore said St George Illawarra will have a very bright future with the hooker leading the club throughout the next decade.

"He's a future captain," Latimore said. "He's all heart, someone everyone in the team looks to follow and he tries his hardest every week.

"Even after the game, you can see how devastated and frustrated he was with the way we played. He's definitely a leader, he's only 25 years of age, he's got another 10 years of doing this.

"With a player like him leading the club, the club's going to be in good stead."

Latimore's comments come as he prepares for his final game in Kogarah before he hangs up the boots at the end of the season.

Coach Paul McGregor named his 21-man squad for the clash against the Roosters on Saturday night, with both Ben Hunt and Tyson Frizell listed to start, despite suffering head knocks on Sunday.

Jonus Pearson returns to the wing, with Mikaele Ravalawa moving to the reserves, while Jackson Ford will start in jumper No. 11.

I actually don't care what Latimore thinks.
Retire in reserve grade first and then start being a commentator and ambassador for the club.

I have the same feeling as last year when we thrashed the Broncos , I believe that we will beat the chooks and send them packing back to Steggels . :rooster:

Dragons by 8
No way.Their defense is too good and have a look at the points in their backline compared to our feeble back 5. The only way to keep the drums beating for McGregors head is a loss and hopefully a bad one. I really think the Board is looking for a face saving couple of wins this year to at least justify having the clown coach us into next season.

Love where Latimore says how inspirational Cameron is when you watch him on the field. That’s the problem, too many of our other players JUST watch him rather than following his example. I feel very sorry for McInnes, he has put nearly 100% into every game yet others, including some of our so called better players, have not.

Admire him and to a lesser extent Graham's massive tackle counts but you got to ask the question: WTF are the other forwards doing ?

Hunt is rumoured to have not passed his HIA requirements for this game. So, young Sailor will get his debut.
Where to play him is the big question?

He can play in the halves which basically is a straight swap for Hunt

He can play fullback which would move Norman back to 7.

He can play wing which would move Lomax to full back and Norman to 7 (moving to wing puts him up against another StG legends son in Morris).

Personally, I'd put him in the halves, its the intro for him imo and yes he could switch with Norman during the game for some experience. But, we are up against the Chooks!

Game prediction. Let's see how close I get:

We will be semi-competitive for the first 15-20 mins, but with all the defence we have to do because of the dropped balls, we will then quickly tire.
In the 20 mins before and after half time the Chooks will capitalise and put 6-8 tries on us.
At the 65th minute with the game done and dusted, the Roosters will rest Cronk, Tedesco, Keary and Mitchell.
With them off the field we will score the last try in the 75th minute.
Mary will count that as a win because we won the last 20 mins.

There will be no dropped balls this week..after what Mary saw no one is to pass the ball this week!
But such detail...it almost like you are Nostradamus
Lotto numbers for this Saturday are.........please before Saturday. ;)
