I am with Tripster. Katoa's service is very fast and accurate. He also has a very neat running game. His problem in his last 2 or 3 starts is that he just seems out of puff. His decision making starting going wonky, he started doubting himself and it all went pear shaped for him at the Knights game.

Defensively he has been so-so but again when he is out of puff it starts failing.

EDIT: His biggest problem is obviously fitness but TBH I think the team never planned for him to play big minutes this season yet alone be a starting/80 minute hooker at this level. Hopefully in the offseason he gets told the position is his and his fitness gets to the levels required to maintain his performance through the entire season.

3 penalties in a row at the start if both games Refs totally aren't picking teams for the top 8. In JT's case it's avoiding the spoon.

Hasn't been fast nor accurate in a good while

The most disappointing thing about our recent games is that there is no easy fix. Our defense is soft at times, we are often clueless in attack and the number of penalties we give away is ridiculous. So how on earth do we fix it?

Okay, I stopped laughing and read the rest. You really think that (a) we would have won tonight with Katoa instead of Egan and (b) you think we will win against the Storm next week with Katoa, but not with Egan?

If you answer yes to either of those, can I ask what you are smoking, and where can I get some?

Regarding the rest of the content (that you added after I responded).

No, I don’t think we win tonight with Katoa. He wasn’t going to be the difference between the two sides. But I do think we would have been more competitive because he would have gotten our forwards better timed ball.

I don’t think it was any surprise that Ennis and the rest of the commentators criticised Egan’s slow service and said it was disadvantaging our forwards. They could see the same things I could also see but you appear not to be able to.

I’ll ask you a question. What do you think he does well? Specifically, what does he do better than Katoa?

Better service? No

Better kicking? No

Better at attracting the markers? No

Better running from dummy half? No

The only thing I think Egan does better at the moment is tackling around the legs. Katoa goes high too often meaning we often lack a round the legs tackler in the middle.

Every team in this competition has improved towards the end of the season except us.

Form wise we should be playing for the spoon next week.

Can anyone name a team we could beat at the moment? I can’t think of one.

We are an absolute laughing stock.

I don't get it. Some call for Katoa to be hooked and celebrate when it happens, then bag Egan out and want Katoa back straight away. Wish Wallace would just come out of retirement.

.

1. Wrong. I like Egan better for this.
2. He had one shit kick tonight, right? But I believe he got a try assist with a kick in an earlier game, no? So... let's wait an see.
3. No idea.
4. I don't think Egan ran at all, so Katoa wins by default.

I don't think Egan is perfect, remember. He's just better than Katoa.

None of you can dispute that the guts and determination has gone out of our team.

Under Hook even when we got flogged by Brisbane we kept turning up and managed to score late in the game.

We look like a team who has given up and has nothing to play for. When 4th f**king place was on offer.
Lol. Yeah we had a lot of guts in that game down 32 nil.

This is a path we have been on for nearly 3 months. Half decent teams smash us.

Nothing has gotten better or worse since Hook left. It's a different style with the same results.

Warriors got favoured pretty f**king hard. Dropped it cold called strip. At least 2 knock ons not called. A block and a tackle in the air not called. We list that game ourselves but lets not kid ourselves.

I disagree. There are shit calls in literally every single game against every single team. Funnily enough, fans only remember the shit calls that go against them. It's a pretty simple situation.

No. This is because after 3 years these merkins dont have handcuffs on so they're going full genius.

Reminds me of Will Ferrell in Old School. Once Vince Vaughn tells his daughter to do ear muffs so they can talk like adults. Will Ferrell abuses it swearing like me during this game.

Thats our team with attack now.

There should have been a middle ground. But not for us

Look at the metres our pack made. Look at the possession we try to do fancy stuff before we earn the right too

Get an experienced coach in for next year. Ciraldo has been thrown in at the deep end. For this year, I don't think we fix it.

Not me. I have been on the Katoa band wagon for a long time. His problem in my opinion is that he can’t play 80 minutes so we need someone else on the bench to interchange him with. That isn’t a small problem either. He might never be able to play 80. All the top hookers can.

I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Cleary have a go at hooker. He is a gun defender and could last 80 minutes without an issue. He isn’t a flashy half and hooker might even be more suited to him.
