I didn’t say that, i said if you want to be fair judge both coaches second seasons. You just twist everyones comments to suit your narrative
I’m not twisting anything I’m merely pointing out what he said and how it is panning out.

He never said it all happens in the 2nd year he was saying this us what you get from him as coach from the get go however you and others are cutting him slack that he never asked for trying to deflect the words from the coach’s own mouth.

You want to take it as some attack on him rather than realising I’m simply asking where is the improvement other than the ladder position.

Glimpses and cameos are evident in 2024 but they were also evident at given times under Mary & Hook but the issue was there was no ingrained sustainability nor was it highly repetitive then nor is it now so one has to wonder why that is after all he is a highly credentialed premiership winning coach.

You cant ignore the roster (and the other 16 teams rosters) when comparing coaches.. the closest comparison would be 2023 Griffin with 2024 Flanagan, which is basically the same roster.. and very very very different results.

I dont even understand what the point of comparing them is though.... the question should be... are we finally moving forward now?... by all metrics thats a yes, and ive heard that internally the existing staff at the club finally feel part of a professional organisation now.. something they never did under previous coaches.
As great as Flanagan has done with the current side under his care, I don’t see a long term future for a lot of those players - Feagais, RFM, Bird, Hunt, Eisenhuth, Sloan, Lawrie. Doubt many of those will be around for more than a season and that’s a conservative list.

He has convinced me one thing though. He can coach.

When you consider how much coach bashing has gone on in this forum the last 13 years, that’s a really refreshing and comforting thing to feel secure about.

Recruitment is the #1 issue and unfortunately is a system problem bigger than just our club. Until we bring in the players we are worthy of, we are kind of wasting time bar giving some game experience to Couchmans. Not that I don’t think those players don’t try, they just aren’t what we need.

Yar and tbf he is trying to sign younger guys in their peak.. but they just arent interested.. hes going to have to do it in a number of phases.. maybe by the time we roll around to 2027 or 2028.. if things keep going well.. that roster is at a point, and we have the respect to attract a younger/better quality of player... lot of things have to go right though.. and we have to hope Flanno can keep those 30-31yr olds firing.. thats also why hes been careful with contract lengths.. he wants them hungry.. same with JDB.. made him fo year to year.. rly held out on that.

But agree I dont think any of our roster are longtermers bar maybe Couchies.. isnt that awful though.. to not have favourites coming through... I cant remember a time when we didnt have promising kids we loved in first grade.

Literally "What he said"?

And those words were for O.T.'s benefit in setting his own personal KPI's for Flanno? (We already are fully aware of ur opinion)

Those words from Flanno instilled hope for the fans but more importantly, those word were for the players - 'This is what I expect.'

Those that failed badly will go but you can't terminate them all in one season. He never promised finals in 2024 yet here we are in top 8 with two rounds to go.

You take his words so literally we should be 20 wins from 20 starts

So when it comes to a PROMISE', not sliced and diced literal 'words', Flanno has delivered.

Ok spell it out for me

Is the defence better or have we copped some absolute embarrasing floggings?

Is the attack better and are we now scoring well structured team tries including from long range or are we as pedestrian as always?

Have the week as piss capitulations stopped?

Have we strung multiple good games back to back?

Have coach’s pets been punted?

Is the game plan different or is it all still B Hunt?

I know we sit marginally higher on the ladder but IMO that is more a result of other teams not living up to their potential and greater cannibalisation of wins among the mid range teams.

I do see spasmodic good things but none of it is ensconced in our team so that’s why we go WLWLWLWL why can’t we go back to back in the win column?

If it’s the roster then why do we win every 2nd game and lose the games to the lesser sides after a win against a better side?

Maybe the losses are who we really are and perhaps some of the wins are more good luck on the day than good teamwork?

I'm stunned that you can't see the folly of your own logic. If we win, it's just good luck. Or the other team hasn't lived up to it's potential. If we lose it's apparently because that's "who we really are". Note that you aren't going to add in the caveat of perhaps WE didn't live up to our potential when we lose are you? Or is that excuse only reserved for opposition teams?

In every scenario you stack the deck against us, win or lose.

We win? A fluke! The other team didn't turn up!

We lose? We're crap! We lost because we haven't improved and the coach is a dud who makes false promises!!!

You can't balance all of these spinning plates OT - you're like a dog with a bone who is so busy doubling down on your own unsound arguments that you can no longer see it.

Pretty much everyone on this forum is going to agree with you that our defence has been shocking at times this year and that we're a wildly inconsistent football team.
I doubt many are so blinkered though as to say that overall we haven't improved noticeably in the first of a year of a very important and long overdue club rebuild.

Mentioned last week and a couple disagreed with me that max feigi defence is shocking. There you go . Matt didn’t want his brother to look stupid today so obliged in kind
I mentioned Liddle's defence is shocking, only tackles with a turning in shoulder, to absorb the tackle. one try & a long break by the Sharks was the result of that, even though he kept chasing a then made the tackle on his 2nd attempt 40 mtr down field.
But gets all the praises for running from dummy half with a quick play the ball

I think it's much more that to be truly impactful, he shouldn't be playing 80 mins. Cook next year will help with this

Um, would this be the same Liddle who got the coaches player of the game against the Sharks? Back to bed for you.

Wow, imagine if Brailey was on our side on the weekend, because he gave Liddle a lesson in dummy half play.
It say's more about the team performance.
That I was awake to !!!!!!!!!
