One of our rare game closures.....but jeez as usual not good for the ticker
We kinda clunked our way to the win didn't we. There was a lot of passion there and effort, can't fault that. But I really thought we played some silly football at times. Our forwards were dominant yet we chose to play sideways footy far too often. Also, can some tell the team that it's ok to hit it up in the forwards after more than one pass from the ruck. It seems we only play one out or sideways.

I agree .....but jeez I would just wish that our forwards carted the ball up with a head if steam...most just try to wind up from a standing start

My team for next week would be:
1. Dufty
2. Milne ( McDonald has been terrible lately)
3. Dugan (if his attitude is right)
4. Lafai
5. Widdop
6. Widdop
7. Mann (or anyone else but McCrone)
8. Sims (he needs to be rewarded with a starting spot)
9. McInnes
10. Vaughan
11. Frizell
12. Thompson
13. De Belin

14. Ah Mau
15. Packer
16. Sele
17. Lawrie (so we actually use all 4 interchanges for once)

Agree, assuming Flo is playing on the wing.

Although, if Packer is fit then I would also consider using Host or Luc instead of Lawrie...

For anyone who thinks Widdop isn't captain material, I suggest you watch today's game... and be sure to keep your eyes open.

To summarise: Widdop was there, and we won. If Widdop wasn't there, we lose.

3 - G Widdop
2 - T Sims
1 - P Vaughan
I think Tariq gets the best and fairest award today. Without him we lose.
Widdop was good but Sims was better.
Inspiration.

Definitely Sims 3 points, daylight between him and Widdop for mine.

Widdop played with great desperation, made all those amazing tackles and was first on the loose ball when it was there to be contested. However, he did not have much of a stamp on the game controlling the attack. In fact, we looked very muddled in good field position.

Sims dominated. He played out of his skin. This guy has been great value. I thought when we signed him his career was going to peter out. He was the difference today.

Dufty - great under the high ball. Always looking to back up. When the team realise how to play his support he will shine. Fullback for a long time I hope.
McDonald - can't see how he maintains his spot. Powder puff running as usual. Bring on Lomax or Marsters.
Lafai - solid display. better without the incessant flick passes. Good defence. Best display for awhile.
Mann - other than another failure in staying inside the sideline, a good defensive display and some nice attack.
Nighty - nothing outstanding. Just solid Nighty.
Widdop - not inspiring in attack but certainly inspiring in defence. Great defensive effort. Controlled the game masterfully towards the end with kicks and repeat sets and gave away a penalty at the end to wind down the clock. Good captains effort.
McCrone - couldn't find the grass with his kicks - especially first half. Tried hard as usual.
JDB - not as dominant as usual but solid.
Frizz - strong running. Much needed.
Thommo - some good runs and tough as usual.
Vaughan - great try when needed. Solid otherwise.
McInnes - plenty of tackles. No dummy half running. I like it when he runs but limited opportunities for that.
Sims - great game. Inspiring defence. Match saving one on one steal to score a great try.
LAM - solid as usual - never drops a ball.
Sele - some hard hitting defence in his limited game time.
Lawrie - showed energy and gained more experience in his linited game time.
KFFL - probably should have replaced McDonald - if only to put McD on notice!

All in all, the Dragons starting pack made 648 metres while the Panthers starting pack made 244 metres. Therein lies the basis of a win.

How the f**k are you going to justify this one?!?
Who said I would justify anything very bad assumption on your part.
If Dugan f**ked up in a disciplinary manner he deserves everything he gets from the coach and the senior playing group.
If they decide to punish him by dropping him I whole heartedly support them and in fact applaud them.
I note that Mc Fookknuckle when questioned also said that Dugan's behaviour had been exemplary in his 5 years at the Dragons so on that basis I suggest he will be available for selection next week.
Can you quote me an instance where he has misbehaved or broken St GI protocols before today?

This is pretty high level pedantry, even by internet standards. How many draws in the last 5 years?
Damo
Read the original post I responded to.
He makes an emphatic statement then contradicts himself so I pointed that out to him and of course coast joins in also making emphatic statements which are therefore incorrect.
You now say how many draws in the last 5 years as if they are not a possibility so for the record didn't we have a last gasp draw in Reggies today to snatch the last semi final spot?

All the shit talk that Dugan has switched off, not interested ect etc reflects more of the character or lack there of, of the people who post that crap than it does of Dugan

All of the people whose character you questioned in this post have been vindicated.

I expect that you are posting an apology to them even as I write this.

Yes we did but in nsw cup no golden point extra time.
If even at the end of 80mins.
Its a draw
