Round 26

Getting FNF is massive. Probably an extra day for week 1 over our opponents is a nice advantage.

Of all the FNF slots all season, this is the most important one and very pleased to have it.

Umm, finals teams want to play as early as possible in this round...

Confirming your idiocy again.
Sharks have a Monday night game in round 25, so playing the following Sunday with a 6 day recovery is the best we could ask. And playing the following week with another 6 day recovery is perfect.

I actually agree with the Manly fans here. I reckon Beaver was a better player than Hindy, but there's only a hair in it.
Anyway, hardly surprised this has become a pissing contest.
The thread was about scheduling. A missed opportunity by the NRL for a wonderful marketing opportunity. f**king idiots.

They are two players with pretty similar standings in the game, really. Hugely popular, genuine decent guys off the field who are deserving of a big send off as favourite sons of their respective clubs.

Beaver was a good but certainly not outstanding centre, he was a competent 5/8th but a brilliant 2nd rower. I can't see any aspect where Hindmarsh was better. I'd say they were pretty much on par defensively but Beaver was one of the best attacking 2nd rowers I've seen. 180 tries says plenty.

Regardless, their standing within their clubs means they were pretty much on par regarding how their home farewell should be catered for. Beaver's wasn't so I have no problem with Hindmarsh's farewell being treated the same.

So because one club great was harshly done by, another should be as well?

The 4 Dally M position player of the year awards mean both players are rated highly, but I do note that when both were playing at the same time the score is 4-2 to Hindy :D Sadly premierships are 0-2 to Beaver :(

Are we seriously complaining that a 11th vs a 16th is NOT on FTA...seriously, retiring or not does it make a difference. The fans get their chance at 7pm if they want, stop whinging and complaining, it is a non-issue

I assume they will just amend the order of games in Week 1 of the finals to suit any 6 day, 7 day turnaround concerns seeing as it totally flexible now?

Or will they just pick based on percieved ratings?

Surely the NRL would have control over scheduling of the finals considering the tv agreement was basically a "show what's on when it's scheduled" due to the format used when the agreement was made?

By round 26 Broncos vs Panthers could be 10th vs 16th

They don't have a crystal ball though. They can only decide based on positions at the time of scheduling not assuming worst case scenarios for some teams and best case for others.

Menzies was far, far superior. Hindmarsh is the most overrated thug in the history of the game.

You would think so. Given the progress through the finals is set (ie loser of game A, plays winner if game C for example), I just hope they "bracket' those games together so that there isn't any arguements over teams getting significantly more time to back up.

And so why does 7th vs 15th, two out of form teams, deserve a free to air match but two high rating Sydney teams with a guaranteed sell out crowd and several players playing their last game don't?

Broncos requested the Sunday arvo but didn't get it. It is obvious that channel 9 get better rating with Broncos on Friday night and that is why they continue to get them.

They don't and if they didn't get it they'd have no right to whinge. I'd prefer to watch Sharks v Cowboys or even (despite my bias) Manly v Titans. Both involve a QLD team which is the prerequisite for the match being shown in QLD at 7:30 and both would offer a greater spectacle. Sharks v Cows could decide a top 4 spot and Manly v Titans could decide a top 4 spot and a top 8 spot.

Sharks Cowboys couldn't be Friday thanks to the scheduling of Sharks v Melbourne on Monday in Round 25.

The Donks are said to be disappointed to be getting the highest rated time slot of the week. I'm sure their sponsors are equally as devastated

I'm sure their sponsors are thinking of pulling out due to the lack of coverage they're getting.
