I was out yesterday so didn't get a chance to watch the game. Was still disgusted after last weeks performance so even if I had the chance to watch I probably wouldn't have.
But while I was out driving in the Bathurst area back towards home I get a text from my son, must have been early in the game. It said "Where the F was this team last week". Ah I thought they must be winning. He tells me it's 18-0.
A bit later I flick the radio on close to half time and its 24-10. They read the possession and error stats and I immediately think if that turns around the Dragons will fold. I've been here before. I know these things......

During half time my radio reception just became static so I turned the radio off as I continued driving.
I get home and had to the option to fire Kayo up but again after last weeks performance I decided I didn't want to bother. So instead I opened Fox Sports website on my phone and was completely unsurprised to see 7 minutes left to go in the game and the score 24-20. I actually laughed at how pea hearted the team I follow is. I knew exactly what would happen from there. I'm a Dragons fan - I know how these things go.
Put my phone down and went back out to my car to bring some stuff inside.
By the time I come back in I see my phone has just received a text message. It's from my son. The message said - "Only the Dragons. Only. the F^&king Dragons. Only. The. F$%king. Dragons. Seriously. Seriously!!!!!!"

It's crazy that I can be out on a drive at half time 14 points up and know with 99.9% certitude what is going to happen in the second half.

Flanno, you know a lot more about coaching than me. And I trust that you will eventually get the job done here.
But I could have told you before you started that this team will never see success before Hunt and all the other "senior" players that are responsible for building the pathetic mentally weak losing culture this club is now famous for are gone. And I would have told you that even though Hunt may objectively be a "good" player, he is an absolute imposter as a game manager, halfback and most of all, captain. And once again this year Hunt has proved to be the disaster that just keeps giving.
Get the broom out Shane.

He had an excellent pack when we last made the finals.

He did f**k all with it.
Didn't they thrash Broncos in the first final and then lose by one point in the next? Surely that's a fair result. Having said that, I'd still move him on if we could and buy a forward.

Yes I remember that incident Nana and it was -
"On ANZAC Day 1999, Cronulla CEO Peter Gow famously cut up a St. George jersey with a pair of scissors in front of onlookers at Cronulla's leagues club and ..."

That really got to me as well the bast..

Sure adds to the spice of the local derby. Not that anyone would think of doing such a thing for that reason

You certainly do have a lot of work to do in the off season Mr Flanagan. Get those whips cracking and give your assistants a couple of upper cuts as well because they have made you look like shit. Mr Dean Young - the Cowboys have virtually flourished this year without your services. Mr Todd Payten me thinks was very happy to see you go.
Simple answer Flanno the group hasn't changed enough ( in your words) because youve persisted in keeping a captain that hasn't got a clue about onfield leadership and the skill set that he's failed to deliver over and over for the money this club is paying him.....as I've stated add nauseam when your supposedly marquee player is getting paid shit loads compered to others and not coming up with the goods there's no way there going to bust their arse are they......MOVE HIM ON NOW

I am dead set not wanting to see Hunt's face and him wearing a Red V jersey again. He looked really morbid throughout the game. As a leader, you want to see so much more animation and taking action and signalling all of the time to the players to set themselves for the next move, rally them to defend, give orders. No, the same look of dejection on his dial. How and why has Flanno persisted with Hunt, I really don't know? If it was Hook, I'd understand but Flanno???

Why would he care he was kept here against his will.
Its the bloke that kept him here that needs to make all the running to avoid the inevitable

I see you still beating the same drum. You do know that we all know you hate Flanno. No need to keep repeating it. Talk about a broken record. Did you ever think that maybe he was told that he had to take the coaching job on the provisional he kept Hunt. You and I are not privy to these negotiations.

Looking forward to the Red V Podcast's attempts to defend him again this week.

"He's having a career best year"
"He's your halfback as long as he wants to be here"
Lol please!

The guy is the living embodiment of the McGregor years - all the tools to succeed let down by a complete lack of direction and desire to blame everyone else. Our rebuild cannot really start until he f**ks right off.

When Hunt comes back from representing the Kangaroos in the Pacific Cup he’ll be back in training with the Dragons For his final season.
He‘ll likely start at half, but in season 2025 he might expect more bench time ‘IF‘ they can find a half to step up and into the role.
No Lomax means that Hunt’s kicking game will most likely be dramatically less effective.
Theres no pressure on Hunt. All the pressure is on Flanagan.

The defense of Hunt seems to be around the fact that Damien Cook is coming and this will take more pressure off him.

First of all, don't get me wrong, I think Cookie will add a lot to our squad both on and off the field in his leadership capacity.

But one could easily argue - why did we need to go and chase Cook when the answer was already available?

9. Liddle
14. Hunt

Use the $600k+ (or thereabouts) to entice Wishart back to the club? Or surely there is another young half back out there who could fit the bill with some negotiation to get them out of their current contracts (i.e. O'Sullivan).

Make no bones about it - the jury is well and truly out on Hunt now. The smart jury can and should reject the evidence of "number one for try assists".

Hunt needs to step up in the games like we've had the last three weeks and take full responsibility.

I don't know whether I've seen Hunt lead us out of a game where we have been up against it (whether it's closing out a tight one, a come back win or regaining some level of respectability on the scoreboard). At the very least we could probably count the occasions on one hand. Performances, like those of the last three weeks, aren't going to be acceptable in 2025 - we need to be putting in more respectable performances against the regular mainstay finals teams of the last 5-7 years AND those teams who end up being around or just below us on the table during any given season. This needs your leadership group to be on song every game, and the burden of making sure this happens is firmly on the captain.

One finals appearance in seven seasons. The last remanence of the McGregor-era. It really is time to seriously consider moving on.

Mills I’m almost there as I spent many years living in Jannali, surrounded by Sharkies supporters.
I have a soft spot for them and am seriously jealous of the way they attack & have speed to burn.
I hope they win the GF against the Cowboys as I hate the rest with a passion.
Coffs, I’ve lived in the area my whole life, most my family are Sharks supporters, including my son. BUT, anyone but Sharks!
They are our rivals, the Sharks fans hate us! Don’t let Miller fool you, he never wants success for dragons, nor should he!
Just let Storm win the thing, nobody in Sydney gives a toss about them anyway.
It would be a travesty for Sharks, Bulldogs, Roosters, Manly to win the comp. In that order.

Well I resent that, had a crush on you and you do that!

So unkind
