Yep. Looks like we've already found our replacements for Snowden and aku

It's embarrassing that some people actually defended Snowden ' s slowness the past 3 years. He and Uate would have been huge burdens out there today. Bye f**ken bye.

The forwards won that game for us. I haven't watched much games over the years but gees I cant remember the last time we had so many big guys in the team.

I think they're improving a little bit. The line speed is improving in defence - and the Raiders have a massive pack. Still poor reads though but I know we've gotta give them time given it's a pretty new side with a lot of inexperience.

Pauli and Paea really made a difference when they came on and gave the halves a little space which they had none of last week.

The rookie errors and penalties are still our worst trait - however the ref really didn't help us out much.

Pauli is an absolute beast, every run is 100% and he takes 3 defenders with him

Mullen had a mountain of a game.

Gagai needs to learn to pass, could have set up a try and a few line breaks had he have drawn and passed.

Sione looked very strong, solid runs and solid defence. He has worked hard in the off season it seems.

Jeremy smith turned back the clock, he made a lot of metres.

Todays effort was 1000% on round 1 and 2. Our organisation was also significantly better. We had a lot of structure in attack.

The BIG disappointment is the stupid, simple penalties. We gave the raiders probably 6 or 7 free rides down the field through shit discipline. We constantly put pressure on ourselves. If we can fix that, we will win a few more games.

Today was as close as we've had to an 80 minute performance in a long time.

For me the standout was Sione. This guy came back into the team and played like a boss, leading the way with crunching defense and he had some real strong runs.

Pauli Pauli is immense, I think any team would love to have him on their bench. Paea got better as the game went on. Rochow bounced back from a couple of shit games.

I don't know if Gagai is the answer at fullback, but I'm willing to see how he can improve if he starts training there full-time.

All in all you have to be happy with the effort in this one and let's hope they can build upon it. As soon as we started playing up tempo and with purpose the Raiders couldn't keep up with us and I rate them very highly this year.

I thought we were hard done by. Their first two tries came off the back of "crowding" which I still find a ridiculous penalty; defenders were up, they have a right to stand still. Mullen got pulled up for a penalty for laying in the ruck but he can't disappear. Williams took a massive f**king dive in the first half, whether or not Gagai scored is debatable.

A lot of positives to take out. Starting 16-0 and turning it around by getting into a grind, defending well and turning the momentum around; it's a shame we had that lapse in the end. Golden point was disappointing. I thought we rushed our attempts. Hokko has a great boot, he's shown countless times he's a clutch player but we seemed too eager to be done with it. Always kicking on the 4th, one more each attempt bar the last would have put us in the perfect position. Luck wasn't on our side either; can't believe Randell got in the way. Felt the Raiders player (Fensom?) was offside for Hokko's last attempt for the charge down.

Knowing the Warriors they'll probably thrash us by turning it on at home and eliminating all the good that was built today.

The thing is, Gagai is the best fullback option we have and we hardly lose any strike power in the centres without him there because he can chime in at centre or 1 in from fullback. I just dont feel confident when gagai has the ball in his hands, he is susceptible to an error as we saw in golden point. If he is going to be our fullback he has to learn to pass to his outside men and put them into an overlap.

Im not sure if Mamo will be the answer either.

I'm more comfortable with Gagai at fullback I think. I cringe when he's run at in the centres. It was a relief having Sione back there.

Gagai needs some work back there but it's not like he's overly used to the position. Any of our options back there will need work.

I didn't think Gagai was overly impressive for his first game in the role last year but he got better. I think his decision making needs improving; I felt it was more rusty than nonexistent. Mamo plays a different style and I feel a hard ball running fullback can work. His best asset would be backing up anyone who makes a break and that was pretty clear last year in his few games. It simply requires more work from our halves and centres. I don't believe it's entirely impossible for that to happen if our halves continue to improve.

Finally we have some strike power to come of the bench (or start) with Pauli and Paea. No more bench players to give the real players a rest or because they are off making the 'main' team. if you are in the 18 you are good enough to make it.
No room for Snowden.
Dane did some good things but he tried to do a lot alone and that's where he messed up. I don't think he'll change that.
Sims lifted in the 2nd half. Rochow was solid. Smith took an ageless pill.
I reckon we would have lost with Uate out there.
Hodko and Mullen started working together and Mullo showed some of what we know he has.
We need practice with field goals. All the pressure was on us and none on them.

Really happy Pauli is finding his feet with you guys. Even though BA has shown he can extract plenty from our boys I think Pauli needed to be knocked out of his comfort zone. Huge upside player and is playing to his monstrous size.
