That wasn't through the hands or near Sione or Dennis though. Ie it wasn't the centre/winger fault. Not an issue.

People are forgetting Bhana. If Levi is going to be our starting hooker, Bhana should be replacing Randell on the bench when he is fit and healthy.

I don't think people are forgetting Bhana, it's just we aren't a one hooker team with Levi starting, at the moment at least. It would be asking alot of Levi to play 80, be dynamic in attack and shoulder the defensive workload an 80 minute hooker is required to.

If we can get more out of that 3rd forward on the bench (Fitzgibon was average), I think we can afford to carry a hooker. Paea/Pauli were awesome, with the Safitis and Stockwell fighting for that 3rd forward spot that puts us in a great place when Tariq gets back.

It was Sione's fault for bombing out of the line into no mans land, that's why Williams kicked in behind.

Edit. Probably stripped for numbers anyway after watching the replay.

Bhana can spell at hooker. He's a bit like Hilder was in that regard only bigger, faster and more skillful

I'm loving what we are getting out of both Pat and Sione. Pat was lauded as the "worst" of the brothers but so far this year he has given us the best value.

Gagai needs to learn to pass ffs. His positioning is good and he knows when to chime in on a sweep but Christ, he blew 1 certain try and 2 other near things. His dropped ball in GP I can forgive. He was scrambling to clean up and was hit with a good shot

Ross started off like crap but came good. That take under the high ball and his dummy half runs were McManus like

Man, what a headache deciding who to drop when Tariq comes back. I'm really at a loss as to who I'd cut. Maybe Fitzgibbon? I like the kid but he probably offeres less

Agree that fitzgibbon should drop off for tariq. But from now on, any other forward should be earning a spot through NSW cup. Having guys like Stockwell and fitzgibbon playing for a spot in NSW cup will keep the whole first grade pack firing.

When you stop to think about it if Snowie gets back to his best we will have an enormous forward pack. Pauli, Snowie, Mataora and Paea is a lot of prop forward. Finally we have the size to match it with anyone. Pauli is my new fave. He is X factor all the way. That does not even account for the Safitis who will only get bigger. Safitis need to be upgraded and signed ASAP. Next season clubs will be falling over themselves to sign them.

You've left out sims

We all know Snowden, in form, is probably our best. BUT it takes him half a season to find that form, and given what we've seen from our other forwards so far, I don't think it's worth the gamble

I can't believe anyone would contemplate bringing Snowden in after what we saw from the middle men in the second half. Big men with great leg speed continually getting over the advantage line by absolutely smashing into defenders and you want a slow marshmallow mixed with that??????

Why?????? Just why?????

Drop Mataora for him????? Why?????

Obviously form may drop for some but on that performance last night Snowden should not get a look in.

My main reason for wanting snowden in the team is due to his ability to create second phase. When he is fit and his head is in the game, he plays a similar role to James Grahame where he can suck in defenders and create opportunities. If you look at the other forwards in the team, I don't see many offloads coming.

Looking at some of the stats from yesterday, it's pretty impressive reading. By the same token, I don't know how we replicate that every week. There were some monumental efforts in there which probably won't be repeated.

Firstly, we had 5 forwards run over 100m, with Mataora coming close with 98m too. Our team just never puts up these sorts of numbers, if we can do it again we'll put ourselves in just about any game. I can't see us doing it too often, though... but it just goes to show what a committed effort in the forwards can achieve. Also a special shout out to Jeremy Smith - 15 runs and 45 tackles is immense at 35 and double his typical output. Talk about your captains knocks, not sure how many more of those performances he has in him. Not many, I bet... but it's his last year, and I hope he leaves nothing left in the tank by Round 26.

On the back of that go forward, Hodko and Mullo were actually able to do their thing. We still struggled to find opportunities in some patches of the game, but we stuck in there and kept at it. The points did come eventually. They will continue to improve if the forwards can lay the platform and the errors are kept to a minimum.

Levi - 80+ minutes, 40 tackles, 8 runs for 64m. These are numbers any hooker in the NRL would be happy with, and he's dangerous with the ball to boot. I don't care if Randell makes 1000 tackles, Levi is twice the player he is and then some. His service game is light years ahead.

Gagai - why is it that suddenly we're trying to hide this guy in the team? $575k and this is what we get? He's the new Sione and Aku this year, needs to pull up his socks big time. Looked dangerous at times, and stupid as f**k at others. We know he can play well from the back, we've seen it before. Needs to be better and running out of excuses.

Speaking of Sione - he's come along in the off season, at least based on yesterday. Bigger, stronger and smarter. Not doing as well as Pat thus far, but I don't think he's going to be as much of a liability this year. Still only 19 years old, he looks to be actually developing and improving again now. Also, that shot on Vaughan! Ooof! Pat had a few "moments" during the match, including his "captains call" on the 5th which we were lucky to get away with. Other than that, he's been really good on both sides of the ball, and is really solidifying himself in that left centre position. If he can keep these performances rolling out consistently, he won't have any problems holding his spot.

At the end of the day, our stat sheet reads like that of a good NRL team. The problem is, most of the "actors" in this play rarely, if ever, have put numbers and performances like this up in their lives. What worries me is that many of them can't repeat it, because they've never done it before as far as I can see. I guess it's Browns job to figure out how to get those sorts of performances regularly.

Hey guys am away and just managed to watch the highlights of this game.

By the looks of things Mullen played well and the forwards got us rolling along nicely. If we can sort out our backline and get our centres and wingers communicating a bit better in defence and get our long term fullback worked out we'll look a lot better by the end of the year IMO. Still not expecting us to avoid the bottom 3 but sounds like there's enough there to be positive!

Mullen was great, a very complete performance on his 200th. If the next 100 follow a similar script, Brown might not even try to ship him on.

I think the biggest positive to take out of the game is we don't have to simply assume every week that it'll be a 40 point drubbing. We can at least have a bit of hope that we will see the players continue to develop, and maybe even compete for some games. There's something there to support, unlike the first 2 rounds. We actually have positives to discuss, instead of just trying to do an autopsy on a hot pile of garbage.

Yep, the traffic in this forum today is proof of that

None of us expects much success this year but I think most will be happy if we at least compete hard for the 80 and improve as the season goes on.

Yesterday was a decent shot in the arm for the club but it's gotta be repeated to keep the fans coming back. It's a good start though

Mullen was terrific yesterday and it makes me sad to think how much we have wasted his talents by having a pathetic forward pack. Once the team got a roll on, it brought out his running game and he was threatening.

I've been happy with Pat, but boy doesn't he look slow. Macdougall was an incredible centre as he was able to get around his opposite with a step and speed and create a 2 on 1. I can't see Pat doing this. However I'd rather a solid centre who can defend as opposed to an attacking freak who will let in 2 tries each week.

Geez, each to their own but Snowden shouldn't get a look in if we get big blokes moving across the advantage line and smashing into defenders as they did yesterday. I couldn't give a shit if he gets 15 offloads a game, his slowness across the ground, his errors and penalties are NSW Cup standard. To compare his skill set to that of James Graham is a huuuuuge over statement.

He needs huge improvement to make firsts now. Surely.

Brown got a performance out of Mullo yezterday, one he has not had for years. I won't say he can't do the same with Snowden but I wouldn't hold my breath either

Pat might be slow but he's already got as many tries and line breaks as his bro did in all of 2015, so he's doing something right.

Well I don't. Again, each to their own.I suppose.

I must be watching a different game to most. Some people have actually suggested Mataora not being up to it. What the f**k are people watching and what do they expect?

It's not coincidence but the first game we don't have Uate and Gags on our right we don't leak copious amounts of tries down that side.

Snowden and this neck/back thing sounds like trouble.

If he retired, Aku moves to Japan and we send Tariq on his way then suddenly Brown has $1.5m to spend.
