The latest mistake probably is the biggest. Not signing McGuire

do you reckon now's the best time to try out the Cleary at hooker experiment? what's there to lose at this point honestly, we look hopeless as f**k in attack atm

Not sure it would fix us. It would help but we just don't have the coach or cattle this year

Biggest issue is why is their attitude so poor.

Guys on ABC grandstand wondered the same thing. ..they agreed panthers had all but given up 15 mins from FT. After such a feelgood buildup to the season that should be more concerning than anybody's individual performance....getting combinations and plays to gell after only a few rounds ( especially with a new coach ) is nothing new and nothing to panic about but a lack of a 110% competitive attitude to start a new season is not good....Jimmy's form will be the first to fade if the team attitude doesnt lift. Even though he's ( agreed upon) barred from any input into coaching i wonder how long Guss can hold out?

The thing that has stood out to me compared to how we played under Griffin is the aggression in our pack, both in running the ball up and in defence.

Criticise Griffin all you like but our team under him was the fittest and most physical in how it played that I have ever seen from a Panthers side. In round 8 against the Dragons last year we basically bashed them into suvmission with our defence and all year we ran the ball up with abandon.

A number of times last season Sterlo said he thought we had the best pack in the competition.

Fair enough Merrin has gone and Kikau has been on the sideline, but the aggression just isn’t there, and I also do not think we are anywhere near as fit as we were under Griffin.

It is still early in the season, so it will be hard to judge where we go from here, but it would make a big difference to the team to bring that aggression back.

Cleary at hooker idea....i think you can put that in the drawer. ...Ivan's determination to have Nathan become the game's No.1 half is more important to him as Panthers are or WT were...he's not going to waste even one game stalling that pursuit....the "I want to coach my son" mantra meant @ 7....full stop!

Wasted 22 million on a rugby league academy
Insightful analysis again. Your long term strategic analysis is appreciated. Of course it must be a waste of money if we lose a game ergo it is the best investment since Microsoft if we win a game....

One bad season doesn't make the academy a waste of money. I'm sure they don't train them to make six errors a game.

Storm had a young fullback jerome Hughes probably playing his 6th 1st grade game tonight and we never pressured him or bombed him the whole 1st half early in the 2nd half we put up the bomb and guess what he knocked on clever.

More talent indentification is wrong for me. This team shouldn't be near the cap. Too many holes in the roster

To be fair our pack was extremely different and missing our 2 best players.

Issah Yeo / Frank Winterstein
Villiame Kikau / Tyrell Fuimaono
Trent Merrin / Hame Sele
Corey Harawira-Naera / Liam Martin

Our pack outside of our startin 13 this year gets average quickly. Might get the odd good game out of them. But it's weaker than last years pack.

Especially with Yeo and Kikau out.

Our roster is noticeably weaker this year - mainly due to the recruitment and retention policies of the great and powerful Gus. Our coaching is possibly worse. At least under Griffin we were fit and until we were injury ravaged...we had good defensive structure.

BTW what is with our players getting one on one stripped? Has the rest of the competition identified a weakness in our players? This is not the first game where we have had successful or near successful one on one strips against us.
