Round 3 vs the Knights

I was disappointed we didn't score more points given how much possession we had in good field position. However, our commitment in the forwards was good. We didn't handle the transition well (the tries we let in were soft), but I think our problems in attack largely came from not having Cleary. Clearly was on fire in the first two rounds, and I have no doubt we would have won by a mile if he played today.

As a coach, Cleary is an awesome tax accountant.
Watching Burton repeatedly kick and miss reminded me of the Cleary game plan - "Oh, that didn't work - let's do the same again!" Not knocking Burton, he did ok for being an inexperienced NRL player.

Our attack has been garbage since we stopping having a ball playing FB. That would be the role I would groom him for.

As it stands right now Tyrone May is our best 5/8th a few more games like that and he will walk straight in

As what Stands? May hasn’t played a game of footy in 18 months. We have no idea what he’s capable of after such a long break. Unless he’s improved out of sight as a ball player, he’s the wrong style to pair with Cleary. Better to persist with the others.

Credit to Newcastle. Had all the reasons in the world to fold and have a cricket score put on them. They held strong and were unlucky not to win.

Did we sack our attacking coaches during the corona break?
Still had no idea once we got close to the knights line.

Api, Fish and Yeo had strong games. Mansour makes lots of metres but has zero speed. Why dont we use all of our bench?

Burton has more talent than just doing the constant bombs. Young guy like him does as he’s told, I’d say Ivan drummed that in to him. This bland attack needs a major work over.

Too harsh on Mansour, the runs and gritty work he did makes it even worse on the forwards, their job was made even easier considering the outs Newcastle experienced and we gave away soft points.... we were lucky to get a point.

I like Aekins but it’s time to move him on, he’s a safe option at the back but offers absolutely nothing going forward... Crichton should be fullback with the view of Edwards trying to unseat him when he returns. Naden to take Crichtons centre spot

why was Naden dropped? Haven’t been able to find any info as to why...

Mitch Kenny didn't warrant his place in the side and it showed. Offered nothing out of the play the ball when he was on. Api needs to play the full 80mins.

Mansour good in patches, but blew major opportunities. Scoring in the corner and in OT offloading to Kikau.

Brent Nadin needs to be in the starting line up. Shift Crichton to fullback.

Not a great performance but we are still undefeated. Knights should have won but Luai needs a BIG performance next week .After the long break you can't expect all teams to be at their best. Hopefully next week is much better. I don't think we should continue with Aekens at fullback even if Edwards is unavailable he offers next to nothing in attack

As it stands that those halves put in ordinary performances like that

We are usually the first team to get penalised when a new rule comes in, and today it was a mutual infringement. Penrith now Also has the unbelievable stat that they are the only team in the NRL That did not receive a tackle reset in the game. Makes you wonder!

Probably the only upside to how poor we played is so far in 3 games we haven't looked good for long at all and haven't lost.

Today was embarassing purely because with everything that unfolded that game was gifted to us and we did our best to throw it away. Thankfully we walked away with a point. But we truly didn't deserve it compared to the opposition.

No one stepped up without Nate sadly. This was a game he would have thrived in. But he let us down before the comp resumed

May showed more in the pre-season trial and his games before he was suspended than Luai has. He is a street smart natural footy player, something we sorely need.

Burton is too raw. No NSW Cup won’t help that go with the proven this year

Stats wise we were good. Just some dumb things cost us. Hopefully it was just rust and can come good

Check out who the ref was. Our friend Cummins. Say no more.
