To be fair, in previous seasons we have been leading the comp early but after Origin fallen in a heap.
That was a great effort and the emotion is high but our halves really didn't control that game very well at all. A decent set of halves would have smelled blood and put that side away. With all the injuries we should have flogged them tonight. If we keep playing like this I believe it will burn us out by seasons end. We need to get our halves firing a bit more before next week. We aren't going to be this fortunate with injuries every week.

I reckon with Hunt in the side we would’ve rolled over them

Norman also, he had some nice touches but he also just did a lot of shovelling on. I would have like to have seen a few more sets where we played for the line dropout and really ground them out of the game. We could have come home and pumped them in the final 20. Either way our very poorly rated pack has comprehensively outplayed one of the comps best packs. So the positives far outweigh the negatives but you can just see we are missing that clinical skill that the top 4 sides have. Ben Hunt was looking good though and if we can grind out a few wins like this while he is out it will serve us well. It will give the current halves time to really get their game in order to compliment Hunt when he is back.
Any win when he's out is a bonus.
Provided when he comes back he continues on his way.

So...we’re a fair side this year yeh ?

Knights unlucky losing all those players but we beat them at a packed home ground without Hunt and Bird.

I like our chances of placing higher than the Knights this year.
With only one decision going our way and that was that forward pass 5 minutes from full time
We are fair only, attack was slow we need to speed up our back line movements

Oh without question, it was a great win. We absolutely bossed them. It was thoroughly enjoyable and probably the game of the season so far in terms of entertainment. But we really do need to learn to capitalise on forwards performances like that in the backs. If not we will get burned out very fast imo.

Take a breath kit, calm down.....

OK. first we should thank Klemmer for being a d*ick and firing up the boys, especially Lawrie, ( elbowing someone and getting caught and then trying to convince the ref the other guy hit you first was pretty low ). Second we should thank Blake Green for two terrible kicks that both resulted in tries for us, cheers mate.

3. Lawrie
2. Sims
1. McCullough - 59 tackles no misses.

Yes, as someone said we were poor in some areas but if you defend like demons you give yourself a chance and good opportunities can come from that, and they did. Mission complete.
We'll be better again next week, Norman needs to stop the brain explosions and Clune needs to think a little faster. A couple of times we had huge overlaps out wide and failed to go there at all.
Well done boys, we're all proud of youz.

I'm tipping top 4 still. If we can play llike this and improve on our error rate we will be in the top 4 for sure.

Good to see Trent Merrin collect a try , the big fella still has plenty of gas in the tank.

On a sour note , that bluudy bunker has crucified the Dragons on numerous occasions over the years and nothing has changed in season 2021 . I thought that to deny Rava a try was nit-picking of the highest order , why don’t they do the same to the competition heavyweights instead of those teams whom are struggling to keep their heads above water - jerks !

Great tough effort against an hostile crowd.
Lawrie really rattled Klemmers cage with the flow on effect coming from the rest of the pack.
Would’ve liked to see them try to get Dufty more involved in the last 20 minutes against their tired pack.

1-17 played great today and the defense in the second half was colossal.
Under Mary we would have dropped our heads after the disallowed try was followed by the soft try to N*wc*stl* but not under the new regime.
Clune was over-thinking it in the first half, but played a much more direct game in the second half and it paid off for us. That short pass to Sims reminded me of Billy Smith or Mark Shulman.
3 Lawrie 2 Sims 1 Fuimaono and big ups to Lomax, Rava, Alvaro and Dufty.
It's early yet, but I'm enjoying this season more than I was expecting to. What a difference a Coach makes.

We used to call Kevin Ryan tough as teak.....and im not suggesting Rocky is as tough but I will say on todays performance any tougher and he would rust

He certainly has plenty of spirit in him and he is not going to allow any one to get the better of him . That certainly was a cheap shot , the elbow to the face and the ref gave the Dragons a penalty for it .

Good refereeing - I wonder what the dil would had done if Klemmer’s elbow had shattered Laurie’s cheekbone ?

Between the bunker and the refs the Dragons were shackled from the start , but according to FoxSport the Dragons only won the match in the “ in the final minutes “ , not too much mention of the fact that Pearce broke his collarbone by a dog act ( pardon the pun ) stiff-arm on Simms .

Anyway the boys were by far the better side and the confidence that they will take from this win will stand them in good stead for the future .

Said it after South's game...we will improve each week slowly...this team is committed to the cause....I must admit a win against the EELS seems distant but we will trouble them...at least Bird is back...and so is Sims!! I think a lot of people are overlooking Alvaros contribution as well...Lawrie has been a giant, Kerr getting better ea game, and Vaughan one of the top 3 props currently in the NRL ....We do need to sign a coupe, of forwards as injuries are inevitable....I think Fifita, Mcguire would be ideal.....
