Will be good to start the season 4-0, can’t see any possible way we lose this one after watching Manly play tonight!

Weak opposition, probably a good game to experiment with fullback. As long as the team take it seriously we should win.
Jennings and Naden will be available the following week, maybe Staines goes to fullback then. So a stopgap is needed for this match. Crichton means you have to find a centre and thus two positions are weakened. Maybe its out of Burton and May, whoever can take the most Nathan Cleary bombs at training. Or Crichton 1 May 3 and Burton 14. Lots of possibilities.

It will be a very interesting decision who the backup fullback is.
I always wanted to see Burton at fullback but with him signed elsewhere i would explore other options.
Crichton is on fullback money and I think will probably get the call up with Burton in the centres.
I think Staines would add a lot more to the attack, if naden was available on the wing I think that would be the plan, but without a decent wing replacement I don't see it happening.

Bryan fletcher on the radio yesterday said he heard from his insiders(likely brandy) at Penrith that they rate Charlie so highly at fullback they think if he gets a run there Edwards might struggle to get his spot back. That’s just what fletcher said, it seems a bit unlikely but I thought it was worth a mention.

The fact he works with Brandy means there could be something to it. Imagine if they do throw Staines out the back and tell him to try and earn the position.

It’s inline with what we’ve heard in the past. Dazza knows people at the club who’ve told him similar.

if it’s just a few weeks then Edwards comes straight back in, but if I was Edwards I wouldn’t want to be out for an extended period.

Next obvious question is what happens to Edwards if he did get forced out of fullback? Would he play centre or wing? He’d easily get a fullback role at another club if he wanted it.

I have no doubt there is some truth to this, but, who plays wing? With the two boys suspended, we are a bit short on wingers.

If Fletcher said that in public, it will certainly undermine Edwards and possibly other players. How bloody stupid.

I'm a little worried Ivan will stick with May.
Ivan doesn't make many risky decisions. Keeps May at the back in the mode of Aekins last year. A player thats not that flashy but will do the job safely with few errors.

Personally I would go with Staines. Speed to cover DCEs kicking game and that also keeps our left side attack in place.

No idea tbh. Fletch just dropped it in when they were discussing who would replace edwards he didn’t give any more context or anything
