Burton wouldn't get a mill a year anywhere max 750k like old mate said on potential but I'd love for him to just suck at the dogs next year too and come back and play second row for us
Brooks isn't on 1.1 next year that was an April fools prank lol
RFM could be alright if cheap
Burton could have gotten $750k+ a season if he was looking for a contract at the end of 2021. Between what he had showed in glimpses at half and over a season at centre he was definitely worth the most he probably ever will be.

But by the end of the 2022 season I would say he would be lucky to get $500k a season. Maybe a bit over from a desperate club. I genuinely think Bulldogs will have destroyed his halves career and he will only be viewed as a centre and probably struggle to be viewed as a marquee player in the nextfew years.

This was a gamble that didn't pay off. If Burton had waited around with us. Signed another 1 or 2 year deal on reasonable money. He could have had a big club like Roosters or Storm look to give him good money to fill in for lost players. Or Dolphins could have come in with marquee money for the halves spot.

It isn't what Burtons worth. It is what desperate clubs would risk.
Ponga is asking close to 1.2. Harry Grant apparently was given close to 1 mill.

A top flight centre would be getting how much? Lomax, Katoni and Critchton would be all getting around 600k. Worse case Burton would play centre and be as good or better then all of them as has utility value. So 700k even if he ended up as a centre who can fill in the halves if needed isn't ridiculous compared to what other top flight centres are asking/getting.

But his upside is huge. He has potential to be a top 3 half in comp. Some think he could b the next Fitler or Johns. Is 1 mill that huge a risk? Worse case you get a guy who has proven he is worth the 650-700k.

Guys like Ponga are a bugger risk based on the fact his body keeps breaking.

Mahoney at 650-700k a bigger risk based on his body shape and athletic ability and no run game which is crucial for a hooker.

Kikau and TPJ at 800k is also a bigger risk based on general attitudes.

Jnr/Rcg/Gutherson are bigger risks based on age and 4yr deals. Guth more on physical ability.

My point is Burton at 1 mill based on his age and skill isn't that bug a risk.

Disagree. A poor 2022 would be seen as a bad side and bad coach. He would be best if did have a bad 2022 to try and secure a long term deal.
If he had a poor 2023 also then his value would drop lots. But 500k gets your a Dane Gagai centre. Good but 33. I still think Burton would get 600k no matter what he does at the Dogs just based on his 2021

A players value tanks extremely quickly if theyre not close to doing what is expected of them. Look at Ash Taylor. Kyle Flanagan etc. Actually any signing Titans make to be honest.

Burton could only get remotely decent money if he tanks at half because he has established himself as a decent centre. But even then he was only performing well in a premiership winning side. Where the guy before him and after him were also performing incredibly well. He hasn't proven he can perform in a shit team. There's a lot of risk for a club trying to give big money to a player coming off a horrible season in his preferred position.

I think kyle would do good under Bellamy or Bennett.

The jury is still out on where he sits.

To go back to back he added Teddy and Cronk. to a side that made the prelims

Struggling now and add Brandon Smith. It seems he needs to add big names to fill holes whereas Bellamy just gets nuffies to do the job
Last year proved what he is to me

Robbo is every bit as good as those 2

Bellamy is a class above imo. I know that he has had great players but he has developed them all. No team has been as good as melbourne have been for as long as they have been in my lifetime. To loose over a few years, cronk, slater smith and end up with Munster, Grant, Pap, B.smith with all of those guys debuting for the club is just incredible.

Pretty much.

Just the fact he said he attends training a lot is enough. He is too big of a presence and you just know he is involved.

.it must make life difficult working at the club, having someone mircomanaging everything you do, whilst looking over your shoulder.

A recipe for potential disaster.
