I expect someone will buy Yeo.

Someone mentioned earlier that Mansour wanted to go to Souths. Was that just because of the money offer or is that the team he wants to play for?

DWZ re-signing is going to be interesting.

Obviously Gould has been critical of us overpaying talented juniors in the past , but a kid that talented is going to have plenty of interest.

Bulldogs have the better offer but he's played juniors at Souths. Thirsty left Kingston off the list.

Mx $250k would pay for DWZ & Nabuli. DWZ atleast can move to FB. Mansour may only stay a winger. If he could even fill in another position or gk that's different.

A great player but that's how we got into trouble under the old regime.

The following are off contract at the end of the year:

DWZ
Mansour
Humble
G.Jennings
Eto
Wes
Yeo

I don't know how much room we have with the salary cap but I think we will lose at least 3 of these.

Someone mention on here that Jennings was leaving, add Wes ( too old ) and either Humble or Mansour ( too expensive).

We must keep Eto and DWZ outstanding talent and with many years to further develop.

Assuming Eto, DWZ and Jennings would be the priorities on this list, it's hard to see where the cash will come from to re-sign Mansour.

I would backend to an extent.

He will be winger for 1-2 years and as such should be paid as a winger. After that he will be either centre or FB so give him more then.

Moylan has to reach certain points to get his full deal. DWZ can have similar.

I could see DWZ playing fullback earlier than that.

Moylans returns just aren't good enough.

using the whole squad as a guide Roberts. Wes & Mansour out. DWZ, Nabuli & Jennings in. seem like for like cost wise & squad balance wise.

Young Dallin Watene-Zelezniak just signed new 3 year deal with the Panthers. Outstanding young man #PantherPride pic.twitter.com/6tLWujHg

That was 01/02/13 so he is here until end of 2016 at least.

What makes you think $250k would cover them? Dogs came in and threw $300k at Lichaa before he had played first grade. T-Rex got $150k thrown at him from Manly before his debut.

Being rookies doesn't mean they won't get big offers. Although DWZ and Yeo are signed. So that means our off contract list is looking different. Kingston and Naiqama will retire. What sort of cash will that leave us with?

Worrying about nothing.

The youngsters we need to hang onto are looked up in the medium to long term.

No issues with the cap. All good.

We are fine now. Can the same be said we Kite, Idris & Wallace come fully on our books next season? Or when Grant & McKendy's contract increases next year? Maybe so but we still don't want to be right on the edge.

Kite is certainly fully on our backs. Idris probably isn't... but when you have the likes of Kingston and Naiqama coming off our books entirely, aswell as having sacked James Roberts from his contract. There should be some wiggle room, especially when Jamal Idris was desperate to come home.

We also HAD Brad Tighe on our books for next season didn't we? So part of his contract would be covered by what Brad Tighe was getting. Plus there's the increase in salary cap, and potentially third party deals paying for some of his wage. If any player would be easy to get a third party deal for, it's Jamal Idris.

This is why we need to keep Mansour:

Statistics show Mansour is by far the premier NSW eligible winger in the competition, lengths ahead of contenders Akuila Uate, James McManus and Nathan Merritt in key attacking areas.

While Morris is guaranteed to be on one wing for the Blues, it is understood Blues coach Laurie Daley is undecided whether to play a specialist winger or shift a fullback into the role.

But when it comes to the cheap metres that are so hard to come by in Origin, Mansour is the contender most likely to produce the goods for Daley.

In three games this year, he has scored four tries and is averaging eight tackle breaks per game, way ahead of Morris (3), Uate (2.25), Merritt (2) and McManus (1).

Mansour is also averaging 18.3 runs per match for 172.3 metres, also a long way in front of Morris (11.2 runs for 125.8 metres), Uate (13.75 runs for 125.3 metres), Merritt (7 runs for 57 metres) and McManus (12.25 runs for 100.3 metres).

The Penrith winger has been cruelled by injury the last couple of seasons and, in an ominous sign for opposition teams, he believes he is yet to show his true potential.

"To be honest, I don't think everyone's seen the best of me yet," Mansour said.

"I still have more to offer. It's still early in the competition and I've got a long way to go to prove myself. I just have to stay consistent, that's a big part of my game I have to work on.

"I think my yardage game has been pretty good the three games I have played this year and I've been pretty lucky to get over the line as well. Having the good halves that we have, I've been pretty fortunate playing off them. If we get more wins here as well, it makes a huge difference."

Soward, who described former teammates Morris and Jason Nightingale as two of the best wingers in the competition, believes Mansour has all the attributes to crack into the representative arena this year.

"He'll be in the City team, for sure," Soward said.

"If he keeps his form up, and keeps doing the little things the wingers do, he'll be there and who knows what else he can do? As far as breaking tackles, he's probably the best winger in the competition.

"I just like his enthusiasm. Looking outside in last year, he was always a handful the way he runs the ball. But the biggest thing I've seen from Josh this year is that he's willing to listen and takes things on board. Josh is playing good at the moment but a couple of good games doesn't make a career."

Panthers halfback Peter Wallace, who has also represented NSW, played a lot of football with quality backs at Brisbane and believes Mansour would not be out of place.

"He's exactly what you need," Wallace said.

"He's fit as, competes hard, runs hard and knows how to score a try. He's got all the attributes but probably the biggest challenge for him is doing it every week.

"He definitely wouldn't be out of place in a rep jumper. He's so strong, he can stand in tackles and can offload. He not only scores tries but does the hard yards at the other end as well."

It'd be great to sign him up long term. Fortunately the club is now run by competent people who actually know the financial situation and have a future plan. The rest of us can stick to fantasy league.

I totally agree with you. I would love to hang on to Mansour but at the same time am confident the days of us paying massive overs for players are behind us.

Didn't realise Kite & Idris aren't already fully on our books. You sure about that?

Idris certainly not as a contract goes from Nov-Nov and he came in Feb. Kite was released 12 months early Manly can't do that without ensuring he gets all his pay. Ideally for them we took everything on if not the short fall they are paying
