Round 5 vs the Raiders

Long term no but atm this is the best 17. Better him there and having no Burton in the side

If you want Burton to stay in the team Crichton has to shift to right centre at some point anyway, why not now? I’m pretty confident that Staines will do a better job at FB than Crichton.

Cleary could fill in at dummy half if Api went down and Burton slotted in at 7.

Outside of a beautiful cut out pass for a try assist 3 times a season, May just doesn’t add much outside of versatility which our 17 already has in spades.

I’d rather have a guy on the bench that we can bring on to win a game in a pinch than someone who can do a solid job covering any injury. I think we can do that without May just fine.

Staines had a run at FB early on dropped it. Still hasn't played FB for a while too doesn't seem to talk much so not sure how he'd organise the defence.

He will get his turn later in the year or next year just get him improving where he is.

Momorovski isn't going anywhere. 3 tries 2 assists on the troubled right side. 17 from 24 games overall is good going

Extremely tall for a hooker. Too tall.

Tmay is 1cm shorter than Burton. So going off Franklin's logic he's to tall for hooker too and can't play there....

Hang on a second... tmay has filled in at hooker plenty of times and done it well....

That 1cm difference going off Franklin's logic would make his service much slower because he has to bend down further to pick it up!

Obviously I'm mucking around but some on here can't see things for how they are. Present one side of an argument to support theirs but don't look at the full picture.

Sure he's probably to tall to play 9 full time, but he could easily fill in there. He'd actually probably offer something Kenny, api or tmay can't which is a legitimate 40/20 threat out of dummy half cam Smith style. Was effective his whole career kicking out of dummy half. Or maybe him being 5cm shorter than Burt's would just be to much for Burton to overcome

Capewell at centre as cover? He was good when QLD had momentum. As soon as NSW got some momentum and played off the back of it the backs were scoring at will down his side. We can only play him at centre during easy games. Any tough games and he's going to get shown up for his lack of agility and acceleration.

It's like when we had Tyrell Fuimaono play centre. Search Cody Walker Origin try and you'll see an example of what I mean. When things are going our way it's fine we can play whoever in the centres. Billy Burns, May, Capewell, even Yeo can go back there. We've roasted teams with them playing centre but against any opposition that puts up a fight or is better it's rocks and diamonds at best.
Correct. Capewell at centre provides the same cover as May - probably better in fact in that he'll provide some level of threat in attack.

Burton has grown so much since that height for his wiki was taken. Look at how tall he is on the field. The only guys he isn't bit taller than in the team are Yeo, Kikau and Eisenhuth.

It was a set play where he came onto the opposite edge. He isn't training there getting that timing down during the week, he'd be on the wing and only come in fb every now and then/to practice this kinda switch set play. And trying those fancy trick set plays rarely works 4 minutes into a game. Have to lay a platform before doing that stuff anyway.

Call me troll all you like mate. Water of a ducks back to me.

Kenny has played 80 every game.. api plays 80 when fit. Yeo plays 80. He comes on and plays the 3rd half link man with the occasional hit up don't call it for what it's not. He has good vision and versatility. Occasionally fills in at 9 if Kenny or api is gassed which isn't often. Kenny hasn't looked close to gassed yet and we've had some big games.

In a big game and Nathan or Jerome or anyone in the backs went down... I'd prefer Burton at 14 if he's not starting. If a forward goes down a benchie can cover that. If hooker goes down then Burt's would have to step up but I'd rather him have to step up and play hooker rather than 7luai 6tmay because nath goes down if tmays 14.

Anyway the good thing about a forum like this is we can all have an opinion. Sure I might think you can be biased sometimes with your opinion on tmay but I don't think your a troll.

For the most part we share the same opinion of tmay, very very good player. If push come to shove I'd just pick Burton at 14 over him if Burton isn't in the 13.

Just for the record Yeo doesn't play 80 this year.

don't get me wrong that is exactly how we should be using Staines even when Edwards is back. Just didn't work that time

It was just way to early to try that Staines play against a good side like the raiders, we should’ve been looking to grind them down first.

Maybe he won’t, but he should. That first half was god awful.

And the second half only seemed better because the Raiders were coming off their line all half, and never had the chance to put any pressure on him (just like his 2nd half against Manly).

In previous years Cleary has dropped players to NSW Cup for them to find some confidence. Some came back much stronger for the experience (Edwards & Mansour) - while others carried on like prima donna's. I don't see why Crichton can't be dropped for similar reasons - especially while we're strong across the board, and 95% injury free.

This time last year we had four wins, and I draw. We were in five spot. On the ladder we had 102 for, and 72 against points. This year, we sit in our right first position. We have recorded no loses. We have 140 for, and 26 against. People reckoned that we will struggle without Trent Barrett, I wonder if they are enjoying their humble pie?

I don’t see why you’d drop him completely when he’s been asked to play a different position, one centre spot has to be his.
