Round 5 Vs Titans

I understand people's concerns but we are nowhere near a bottom four side. Tonight our attack looked far better. Defence wasn't the best but we still can't defend kicks in particular. Discipline is obviously still an issue. We just need to find that balance between attack and defence, just haven't found our groove yet, I still have confidence we can do that, just don't have near the consistency yet to do anything.

Look at who we have played hardly the top teams. We play dumb footy. There isn't one area we are any better at from round 1

Nothing wrong with the play (excl. execution), just the timing of it was seriously brain dead.

FWIW overall I thought Cleary was terrific. Maloney though, Did he even play? Really not bringing much to the team. Enough said about RCG.

Not the end of the world, plenty of teams have played worse in the early rounds & done damage in the comp, just don’t ask me to name them.

I call bullshit on this. At least the team would be significantly fitter, have good line speed and better than average defence. Yes our depth has suffered but you would think that the younger players maturing another season would offset this. Instead most of the roster has gone backwards.

Last year we had the heart to keep on trying, and enough poise not to shit the bed when the going got tough. Now we are pea hearted, unfit, and completely bereft of any clue. We also panic at even the faintest whiff of adversity. Our toughness is just....gone. Vanished.

We only have May and Fuimaono missing.

Both halves and RCG played SOO last year. DWZ and JFH played test footy last year... The roster atm isn't the issue.

Coaching and selection is

I don’t think he is overly quick but he ran for 300 metres on debut and has been very good in NSW Cup. I think he offers more than Dylan at present and although harsh on Dallin we need to do something. I would bring in Jed Cartwright for Whare but that’s not going to happen.
Yep I'm a fan of Jed Cartwright despite what some on here think of him........my only concern with Jed he has played very little football in the past 12 months due to injury, however I rate him highly.
The kid I like in the lower grades as an outside back is Stephen Crichton but I don't know whether he is ready....... would be better than both Edwards and Mansour.

The halves and backrow were fine. Maloney scored and got a repeat set or 2. The outside backs are woeful. Forwards did dumb stuff. Sele should get RCG's minutes

I agree with this. I cannot believe I am agreeing with you, and having a skirmish with MX. hahaha

One thing though is who do we replace RCG with? Our forward stocks are SHIT. It would be nice to have McKendry fit but alas....and obviously Tim Grant and Ivan just don't see eye to eye.

Tim Grant would be make himself available for more carries than RCG although similar one dimensional style of player. I would give Kaide Ellis another crack has a big motor and couldn’t do any worse.

Matheison Johns and Too should be our wingers

And that’s a Yard stick for what?

The QLD halves are from Broncos / Cowboys and Manly and Ben Hunt
Usually it’s a yardstick for the quality of the players. But yeah, I guess with the way Maloney and Cleary are playing, I take your point that it doesn’t mean much.

Last i saw of Grant at the Tigers ( a couple of 1st grade appearances off the bench) he still puts in and can still dent the line a bit...he's an honest player but doubt he'll be considered

Jed is big strong mobile and can move quickly across the ground. Can stand in tackles and create second phase play with his off loading ability. It’s time to give him a crack.

Yeh I did forget about those things. He just doesn’t look like a threat with the ball though.

Agree, Sele was good again but gets very limited time. I said it earlier today but we seem to really limit some of other forwards time in the hope RCG will eventually come good.

Ellis has been the best player in NSW Cup the last 2 years, deserves another crack.

Maloney has never been a threat with the ball. He has gotten 15 drop outs for us. Nearest is 7. So he is doing a job just needs others to stand up
