I was going to point out we were doing the same alternation between wins and losses that we did at the start of the 2014 season (first 9 games: WLWLWLWLW then we went on a bit of a streak), but it looks like that could end this year at LWLWL...

Team has to stand up.

Yeah It pretty much comes down to this in the end. We need to defend as desperately as Melbourne just did against us and we wont lose many, they should be playing like they have something to prove the next few weeks otherwise they aren't going to get near a GF. We have beaten two teams sure to be in the bottom four, probably the bottom two. We have a lot to prove, either we are legit threats or just taking the piss.

Looking forward to the contrast of Edwards at fullback tbh.

I think it may surprise people to see what we're missing with some pace at the back.

I agree. I hope that Edwards has a blinder. If he does, it might burst the Moylan hype. He looked good as a player chiming in as we had no recognised 5/8. But now we do and having a pacy, well positioned fullback that can tackle and run the ball out will be a bonus. Not saying Moylan is not a good ball player - he is. But I think with TMM/Cleary we have a good pairing that will only get better with experience and greatly reduce the need for Moylan to fill in as a ball player.

Tom.

That's a little unfair on Moylan.

The hype about Moylan is over his ball playing & vision. He's a genuine 5/8 playing fullback.

The question the panthers have to ask themselves is who is the best option for 5/8, TMM or Moylan?

It's a bloody tough one, and I'd hate to be in the position. Put a gun to my head and I still think Moylan is our answer at 5/8 though.

But if the panthers decide on TMM we may be served best with a different fullback, at least in the long term.

My BIG concern about the replacements coming in for us is how they will handle the faster pace defensively.

If this is a concern,we will have a game on our hands which the neutrals are going to love as far as the end to end scoring is concerned.

Anyway,it's going to be a fast track in Penrith on Friday. No crappy weather.

Pretty confident Edwards will be fine, he's looked solid defensively in his 2 FG games. Other two are a crapshoot.

The biggest issue will be a lack of game experience between combinations.

Edwards has never played in our spine.
Oldfield has never played outside of Whare
Malakai has never played a professional game with his brother.
Dallin hasnt played centre in over 2 years.

For me that just means our attack will lack polish and possibly increase the chance of errors. And the defence outwide will be a lot easier to exploit.

We need to dominate possession and field position and we will win. The tigers defence isn't great if we get the lions share of the ball we should be able to convert it into enough points. But the same applies to souths, if they get enough ball they will likely get the points. We already make a lot of errors so its going to be tough, our forwards will need to really fire up and Cleary and Martin must kick well.

Moylan is an out and out 5/8 and plays that role in attack for us. Hes the best playmaker in NSW.

Not for one second do i believe this. The kid played half and 5/8th for Toyota Cup and was nowhere near the top 10 playmakers in that comp, hence why he was pushed back to fullback. I realise he's a lot older now but i doubt he's improved his ability (in comparison with others) that much.

I still can't make up my mind with Moylan. One week he looks like a superstar, the next couple he looks extremely ordinary.

You are kidding yourself.

Hi finished last season with 4 or 5 motm awards in 6 games or something. The year before that he was leading or tied first in the dally Ms after 12 rounds before he got hurt and our season went to shit. Geez people have have a short memory. As far for your comments regarding his NYC days, again are you kidding? Players don't improve much from their teens? Lol he was a late bloomer no doubt but he spent the last half of last season playing as our dominant playmaker, getting more ball in first or second receiver than either of our halves and that coincided with our run of wins into the finals and his run of motm awards, he has obviously improved massively in that regard how could you say that after watching him last season? Leading up to the newy game he missed some training with injury and had a quiet game(while TMM had a blinder) and again just didn't look his usual self against Melbourne, he might be carrying an injury. 2 quiet games after about 6 motm awards in his last 10 games(got one AUS and one this year) and we start wondering if we are better off without him, what a fickle bunch we are.

Moylan was 4th last season for try assists, with less games than all those round him. The next fullback was 8th, Barba, everyone else up there was a half. Thurston > Cronk > Hunt > Moylan it went. He's already a 5/8th in attack. You wouldn't move him for attack, because there's no point, he's already playing as 5/8. The case for moving him is his fullback play.

I think if Martin and Cleary lead this side named to a victory. You can lock them in as our halves for the forseeable future

Bloody hell mate, you alright?

I'm not saying he's a dud by any stretch of the imagination nor that we will be better off without him but as good as he can be, I'm yet to see him consistently deliver against good opposition. If he gets rattled early which most sides try to do, he resorts to tapping on passes or throwing 4 man hail mary cut out balls.

Usually those hail marys and tap ons find the mark and lead to a try, like I said short memories. You said one week he looks like a star and the next week he looks 'extremely ordinary', when has he ever looked extremely ordinary? I find that stupid and gave you some reasons why, what is the problem? If you don't rate Moylan or you think we are better suited with another fullback or if don't think he is a good half fine say that. But if you say something like he is extremely ordinary every other week after two quiet games then I am going to point the stupidity of that comment. I don't mean to be harsh but it gets frustrating sometimes.

Exactly, he is up there with the best ball players in the comp with his vision and ability to put the pass on the outside of the defender, that is just beyond dispute right now. I still remember back in 15, weeks after he got hurt checking the line break and try assist number for the whole league and it was Moylan and JT leading with no one else close and only one separating the two(Moylan led one and JT the other). That was a month after he got hurt at least and we still had a genuine half and 5/8th running the show that year.
