Round 7 v Knights

I want to see us against some better teams to see how they're going. It's all good to score 40 and 50 against terrible teams and even then they only had two good halves out of a possible 4. Knights are trying hard but I'm not sure how to rate them right now.
Don’t worry about how many we score, worry about how many are getting scored against us.

That’s the best indicator of how a team is travelling. Defence wins comps.

I think what Ivan said about seeing where teams are at in another 6 weeks is pretty on point. So many inconsistencies at the moment.

see Earlier post.

If you have the backrow, Yeo and Kenny playing 80 mins. Sorensen will be fresh enough to play some edge minutes if needed.

That position is incase of injury only. Or some spark later in games. Putting Cole and
Others in there is preparing them for playing the top grade next year.

Like we did a few games with Turuva last year
Salmon is great, our intensity never drops when he comes on, he can defend anywhere. He is more than capable of doing minutes on the edge.
It’s just a no brainer for me!

Knights have a stack of injuries.

Souths next week off the short turnaround will be a good test

The intensity doesn't lift though.

That is reason teams are starting to run with bench hookers and a utility on the bench.

We have the best intensity in the comp, we don’t need it lifting higher, we need it maintained, our players never look tired or slow.

I’m happy for someone to force Salmon out, but they have to be able to do what he does only better.

I'm with you on Salmon, I think he does a great job. It would be nice if he had a bit of x factor, but we don't drop anything when he comes on in whatever position, so overall the versatility is worth it.

Salmon is doing quite well but the issue is how so we get Jack Cole (and others) game time before next year? Will he play 6 with Luai at 7 during Origin? We need him ready to play centre for Critter in 2024.
We need to give a few players a taste of first grade and Salmon's spot is the only real available bench spot for a back or half.

This is on point. Other teams have to play at their peak to keep up.

Injuries will probably force that decision at some point. If not maybe in the last few rounds if the ladder position allows it.

Nailed it. We are losing To'o to Origin too with very few FG ready options. So more minutes the better for guys like that

How do they force him out without a chance?

We also could be in need for positions in the 8 then. The more minutes we can give now with the likes of Yeo in the side. The better they will be come Origin time

I get the concept, I'm of the opinion that 10 minutes of garbage time off the bench wont achieve that much compared to playing 80 in cup. It's still early, plenty of time to get them a few games at some point. Maybe give Tito a rest if he needs it and open up a spot for a week or 2.

Don't forget Lindsay Smith is getting a good run off the bench for the moment. Blacker could be next.
