Spencer Leniu has been named on the extended bench in place of Jack Hetherington, who this week joined the Warriors on a short-term loan deal.

The Panthers will wear the pink 2020 Alternate Jersey.

It'd be funny to see a coach name the team in random positions for a laugh. Kikau fullback, Fish on the wing. Don't play them there obviously.

On a serious note good to see Lenui creeping.

I know this won't change your mind......but here goes.

To'o one of his biggest strengths is his bringing the ball back from kick returns.

Also the amount of tackling at centre. Effort on effort. What is To'o's passing game like?

Has To'o ever played centre before. It's a specialist position.

Whare still does a lot of good work off the ball at centre. Has a good passing game too. Good defender.

In my opinion it's not worth it.

Fair enough, but to answer some of your points..

Naden showed last week he can do a lot of the ball return work.

To'o has played centre in the juniors, and his defence appears good. Including his defensive reads.

Biggest question would be his passing, I can't answer that one.

As for Whare, I think he's done. Strong word is he'll be leaving us at the end of the year as well. His contributions in attack are basically ziltch.

How is centre a specialist position? You get wingers, second rowers, halves very regularly. Last year, a fullback, 5/8, and halfback were origin centres, you wouldn't get that with a specialist position.

Barry Harris who coached the Panthers in 1975/76 actually did this. He got the idea from the NFL. From memory I think he got a wrap over the knuckles from the then governing body NSWRL. and yes I am very pleased to see Lenui back from injury

It is broke. Whare is a ball & chain in attack and his defence isn't what it was. The team should strive to improve all weak points.
I suspect it is a balancing act. We've already got one centre who is suspect in defence but good in attack. I'm guessing the coach is loath to introduce the same situation on the other side in a winning team.

I get that idea, but the problem is Whare isn’t that good in defence anymore. I think some people are thinking of him as the defensive machine he was 5 years ago. His tackle efficiency is down to 74% this year.

At that level of the game, they pick the best 17 and then worry about where they'll play. Tom Turbo and Wighton are genuine utilities anyway. Queensland were desperate to put Mbye in the centres.

Clearly he's the best available in the coach's view. He will get pushed out sooner or later though. Sauce too probably.
