Not confident at all. We may have been up for Anzac Clash and the atmosphere was great with 41,000 fans. . Fast forward to a wet soggy ANZ with barely 15,000 attending and that empty stadium will suck up any atmosphere. We seem to struggle against the Bulldogs at the best of times, and they’ll be up for it. Danger game for sure.

We go ok at the GONG.
We usually run against the breeze and come home strong there in the 2nd half.

Well if we lose this one with the tigers win and if they bt us next week and then the Cows bt us the week after we will be last.
I know it's a long bow but they might be playing that tune.
I bloody hope not.

Yes I agree with you Jeff. The Tigers could leap frog us if they play like they did tonight against the Panthers in several of the remaining games. I think that we have been unlucky in a couple of our last games so it will be nip and tuck to the end of the year to see who gets that illustrious spoon.

Bloody Mbye to start again and no Bud, what the hell?!! Mbye to play the 60 minutes again and Liddle to come on when it's too late?

Good to see Max F in the starting team.
Whats with the no Bud bit yet again.... what if Amone ends up not playing down the track....this is showing absolutely no confidence in young Sullivans abilty to play 1st grade and doing zero for his future with us

I have worked as a contractor for years and been around contractors for years. The moment management tells a contractor that he won't be renewed, he starts hitting seek.com.au, job hunter sites, browsing for jobs, prepares for interviews, attends interviews, etc. The only thing expected from contractor is to hand over his job in his remaining days. Sometimes he maybe asked to leave immediately. I cannot imagine that a Rugby league contract position will be different.

So Hook is probably chatting agents, looking for new role in some other club or looking to work in media. Do not expect him to try to develop Sullivan or other players. Look at the team selection. It is same team. Mbye at 9 for over 60 minutes week in week out. By what I have seen, Hook just replaces an injured player and the name of opposition team and hits the print button and his job is done for the week.

By the way, Hunt apparently knocked back an approach from Gould. Hunt is a Hook man. He is seen the writting on the wall. So I expect to hear a lot more.

Anyways, it is time for the board to appoint caretaker (Woolf or Carr or even Jamie). Decide on a coach and recruitment manager and coaching staff and start planning for next year.

Contractors finishing up is a time of uncertainty for any business - as you quite rightly point out the care factor quickly goes to zero.

Our board is divided over which direction to go in. I'm sure the Illawarra side want one of their men in, while the St George side probably want to go all in on a seasoned (former premiership winning experienced) veteran.

Sullivan is still the 19th man, I don't reckon hook would have done that unless he's playing today.

We will probably know more by 1.45pm when NSW Cup take the field.
When you consider not that long ago Sullivan was leaving for the Dogs and then Hook promised him more game time, today coming up against the Dogs after 3 straight losses is a bit of a confronting moment for the coach.

Perhaps he will play today. Gee, we are a dysfunctional team.

But I also don't know what conversations have been had in the off-season (between Bud/Hook/Management) about being played as a bench hooker.. like on the one hand ok yes its 1st grade time and useful for the team.. but on the other hand is it doing much to further his career in the halves? They may have come up with an agreement..

Last year bud said to someone off the record (I forget who) "I love the club, but don't want to wait to I'm 25 to start playing my preferred position' or words to that effect.. its a long process for a halfback (look at ilias and co), and ok his injuries were a big part of his delay, but we backed Amone hard over 2yrs.. with 40 first grade games (in the halves.. and 80 minutes per game) and in doing so really set Buds career back.

At the end of the day some arrangement was made with Sloan/Sullivan. Where's the integrity if the coach has gone against that?

Sullivan's couple games to start the year were average but I can't say Amone's have been much more promising. Having said that, we are a bottom 4 team not a top 4 team and should be finding room for both future stars in the team RIGHT NOW. Look at what a little time has done from Sloan. With Sullivan or Amone coming from the bench and Sloan chiming in from the back we will soon become a dynamic and unpredictable force and suddenly opposition teams have to re-work their entire approach.

Sure, defence is another factor to consider but aren't we already averaging 40-50 missed tackles a game. Might as well centre some of our resurgence on attack too.

I’d love to see what Jamie Soward can do with this roster as an interim at least, he is a winner.
