Round 9 vs Dogs

What was scary about the last 2 weeks is Saints looked cooked. Under Mary they looked cooked after round 12. Under Hook it has taken 6 rounds. Wow.

Dogs will get us this weekend as they will show much more enthusiasm than Saints. Saints looked like they did not even want to be at WIN on Sunday. They blew a chance of being 4 pts clear from 7th. It was a huge loss and one that will definitely come to bite them in the end such as this dame if they lose it as well.

Unless it’s Bennett with us..

A year to rebuild back to minor premiers..

A second year firing and into the grand final to win the title..

We won’t talk about the third year giving up halfway through, stripping the club of player & support assets & leaving us in the hands of the clown..

The club should've sacked him effective immediately, had him clear his desk and say his last goodbyes.

Ramsey picked despite his rib injury he’ll probably play with a needle
Kerr keeps his spot WTF?
Fuimaono replaces Lomax in the centre’s WTF?

Come back Jack! We need you!

I dont think Ramsey will play, Matt F will come in. It would be a good game for him to debut. Give Ramsey a bit more tine to get fully fit for the Storm game.
Agree with Kerr, would rather see Ford there or even Burns.
Fui was a centre before he was shifted to the edge. Not s bad move and will strengthen the defense out wide.

St George Illawarra coach Anthony Griffin has named his mandatory 21-man squad ahead of the Dragons' Round 9 clash against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, Kogarah on Sunday, May 9.

This weekend, St George Illawarra will help kick-start the centenary celebrations of one of its founding clubs, St George, in what the club is dubbing Heritage Round.

St George Illawarra will don the 'blood and bandages' (red and white hoops) jersey worn by the inaugural St George Dragons team of 1921.

St George DRLC will also unveil four new inductees to the walk of fame located outside of Netstrata Jubilee Stadium as part one of several initiatives to come throughout 2021.

In team news, Zac Lomax (dislocation thumb) is out, his centre void filled by Tyrell Fuimaono. Poasa Faamausili is the new face on the interchange.

A return-to-play timeline is yet to be established for Lomax, who requires further follow up consultations.

Cody Ramsey (ribs) has been named and will be monitored throughout the week. Mat Feagai has been named in the reserves as back up.

The Knock Out Effect Cup Dragons will act as a curtain-raiser when they tackle Mounties at 1:40pm.

At this point in his career Fuimaono isn’t fit enough to tie up Beau’s bootlaces

If Fuimaono is such a great centre why didn’t Hook play him there instead of Burns on Sunday?

I don’t like it I’d prefer Hook showed faith Mat & Max

St George Illawarra face season-defining six-game stretch

Dejected: St George Illawarra play Canterbury on Sunday (4pm) at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium. Picture: Getty Images
St George Illawarra are at the crossroads after eight rounds of the NRL.

Are they the team that started with four wins in their opening five games who based their game around commitment and doing the little things right?

Or are they the team that slumped to their third loss in a row on Sunday against the Wests Tigers who struggled to make metres with ball in hand and looked disjointed in attack?

The answer will come in a season-defining six-game stretch starting against the Bulldogs on Sunday.

Anthony Griffin's team play the Bulldogs, Storm, Sharks, Wests Tigers, Broncos and Bulldogs.

On their best form, they will start favourite in five of those matches and be in good shape for the finals if they can win four or five of those games.

MATCH PREVIEW

Dragons v Bulldogs: Fuimaono in centres; DWZ at fullback

Three weeks ago the Dragons were flying high on the back of a four-game winning streak.

Now they're on the wrong end of a three-game slide and struggling to score points. That the Wests Tigers were able to outlast them in round eight is a cause for concern.

Now they face a Bulldogs side that proved two weeks back that if you give them a sniff they're good enough to win matches in this competition.

Canterbury endured an unhappy night against the Eels last weekend, but on current form the Dragons are a step down from that standard.

Key match-up
Ben Hunt v Kyle Flanagan. Hunt was looking a rejuvenated man before breaking his leg and now that he's back he needs to recapture that spark. Flanagan is learning the hard way that if your forwards aren't matching it with the opposition the No.7 jersey can be a tough one to wear. If the men in front of him don't match it with the Dragons pack he could be in for another long afternoon.

Stat attack
Canterbury completed their sets at 79 per cent against Parramatta but generated just two line break and averaged just 33 metres gained per set of six. Their opponents - Parramatta - averaged 15 extra metres per set.

Come back Jack! We need you!

Calm down maddragon 99.
I highly doubt Ramsey will play hence Feagai being named in the 21. Fuimaono CAN play centre and has played centre in 1st grade before, much better option in defence and attack than Burns.
Kerr has been way down on form the last few weeks but in the 1st month was pretty good. Last chance maybe??
JDB! Let the courts decide before you go lavishing praise and give him a red carpet entry back into the side

I think it's no surprise that we've been struggling since McGuire joined the team, In my opinion our main issue was our agility/slow forwards in defence, and McGuire has added to this problem, I think he can be a good addition but is currently used the wrong way.

Kerr and McGuire should be bench props/locks, and someone more agile (bird, fui and or hopefully JDB soon) given more game time in the pack.
