Round 9 vs the Sharks

I figure centre has a lot of crossover in skills with fullback. Needs to read the opposition attacking structures, make one on one tackles. Some basic passing and good running game. If Edwards can't do that he shouldn't be at Fullback anyway.

Definitely worth a try. We need to think outside the box for centre, and I see Edwards being overtaken by someone else at FB. Be it Burton, Crichton, Staines or Laurie.

IF Burton has as much potential as some seem to think we will be able to see it if he is playing out of position in the back line or off the bench. To'o is out for a while, train him at centre for a couple weeks then give him a run there see how he goes.

Not the time yet. Have a few more missing then you roll the dice

Gould also thinks RCG is going to be the best prop in the game.. Gus has no idea anymore

Wouldn’t say he has no idea. I’ve been critical of him too, but the reality is the current squad is largely because of him.

And besides, it’s obvious to a lot of people that Burton is a special talent.

Special talent yes but we have someone that is just as talented already in a position of need. I have been banging on about him for a while but Crichton fits the needs we have more than Burton atm

I took from Ivan's radio interview that they still want him but aren't sure where he fits long term.

Well every analyst was saying Burton was the better half and should partner Cleary. Luai got it because he played with Nathan in lower grades. Not saying Luai should lose the 6 just that Burton's talent is obvious.

Who are these analyst’s? I’ve not seen one person suggest that Burton should be playing over Luai? Pretty much everyone has been commenting on how good our spine has been developing....
I didn’t realise there was a bunch of “Analysts” sitting around disagreeing with that.

Where did I say he wasn't a talent? Just Crichton and Martin at this moment are more important to re-sign.

Are we pretending that all the media talk wasn't that Burton had earned the 6 pre Cleary return? I'm fully aware Luai has since picked his game up and people would be stupid to ask for him to be dropped at this point.

Your comment about Gus having no idea. Most people agreed.

Not pretending. I didn’t hear it.

Well he doesn't. Remember him losing his mind when Luai tore Warriors apart?

Under Gus we announced he was going to take over Maloney 2 years out. Now despite running 2nd Luai isn't better than a 3 game rookie

Then you have the other half. Gus signed him for $1m a year for 5 years.

So no Gus has no idea. He changes him mind every week.

Burton is a talent but right now needs to find a role long term in the team. So for that reason Crichton and Martin should be re-signed 1st

Crighton is the obvious bigger talent. Sure Burton is going to be a big part of our future, but I'd be more pissed off if we lost Crighton.
There is nothing obvious in who is the bigger talent. Burton could be a superstar half or fullback, time will tell. Spine players win games and right now the best player in the game is a fullback (Tedesco) and the best up and comer is a fullback (Ponga). I am not convinced Crichton is the next Tedesco, he is slower, less agile and isn't a ball player.

With both players, their physical development will have a large say in what happens next. They might both bulk up and lose agility and speed. Irregardless, a player who could be a star five eighth is worth more than player who is a star winger or centre. There is a reason they have moved Mitchell to fullback, he can impact the game much more there than at centre.

Braith Anasta said exactly that on Fox. He said "I thought Burton was the better choice for 5/8th and out played Luai in his two games. Fair play to Luai he has improved and is looking really good right now.".

Sterlo said the same thing earlier in the year.

Braith Anasta and Sterlo were saying that after two games they saw Burton play while Nathan was suspended.

not at the start of the season, after pre-season and before the season started.

I’d be willing to bet, the great footy analyst Braith Anasta, didn’t even know who he was.
