Braith Anasta and Sterlo were saying that after two games they saw Burton play while Nathan was suspended.

not at the start of the season, after pre-season and before the season started.

I’d be willing to bet, the great footy analyst Braith Anasta, didn’t even know who he was.

M Johns and Ennis were also saying it after those two games, and Gus. But hey, they are idiots right? Got no idea?

Im pretty certain Braith called his debut last season.

I personally think Matt Burton is a prodigious talent in his rightful position.

I’m not a fan of trying to manufacture players into positions other than where they are best suited but that’s just me.

It is a great position for Ivan Cleary to be in given he has options around the halves and utility of the bench.

Most of these judges didn't have us in the top 8... yet here we are. Things change players improve faster then others

I listed earlier why Gus' opinion is redundant here.

Seen Matt Johns tips and hot takes? He is ordinary at serious footy chat

Don’t put words in my mouth, it’s rude and quite offensive.

It’s not manufacturing. He used to play wing, many fullbacks were first wingers. Many fullbacks also have the talent to play in the halves. There’s real crossover to those positions. Depending on body type, and Burton has the body type.

Burton has actually only been a half for 2 years, if anything he was manufactured in to that position. (Although he has the talent for it)

I don’t profess to know what positions he played in the junior ranks out there in Dubbo my assessment is purely based on what I have seen in the Panthers junior ranks and reps he has played in.

I don’t disagree with what you say, an example being Jack Wighton, not a panther but former fullback played SOO in the centres and five eighth.

The cream of the crop are capable of playing in many positions and maybe Burton in time will be capable of playing multiple positions I’m just not sure the balance of our side currently allows for such experiment particularly given the fact we are winning.

Yes I look forward to being able to provide solid insights like “I bet Braith didn’t know who he is”

at the start of this season, I have major doubts that Braith Anasta even knew who Burton was.

I don’t know which media outlets you guys were all listening too, but everything I heard was Cleary Luai, the only reason that changed was a Nathan Cleary Tik Tok video.

Most of them didn’t even have Burton on the bench, they were all saying that Capewell would look after the 14 jersey until May returned.

No offence but I find your comments on Gus ridiculous. He knows more about footy than most imo.

So what was wrong with how I put it?

Gus got too close to the players and as such let things cloud his judgement.

Every year the turn over was normally due to the next big thing coming through

The idea that he can’t play other positions is pretty strange imo, he’s 6’3 and probably heavier than 88kgs already and a natural footballer. I honestly think there are more positions in the 13 he could make a go of than not. You wouldn’t play him at hooker or prop for obvious reasons but halves, wing, centre or fullback he has the talent for any of them imo and if he bulked up a little he could play lock or as an edge forward.

Since mid 2018- Luai was always the next waiting. He has done nothing wrong so far... while that continues then Burton's future lies in another position

I just flat out disagree with the statement that he has no idea.

The examples you used around Luai and Rcg didn’t make a lot of sense either, he was right about Luai. Jeromes done a good job taking over from Jimmy so far and have you watched RCG play lately? Atm he is living up to the potential Gus saw on him.

I agree that Gus didn’t get everything right when running the club but that doesn’t mean he has no idea.

Most mainstream audiences have only seen him play half so I'd say he's been typecast in people's minds.

Franklin, you were in the anti Gus Gould camp.

Yes he loved the players, is that wrong. He truly believed RCG could have been the best prop in the game was that wrong, probably, because he isn’t and never will be but he is now delivering what Gus believed he was capable of delivering.

Whether you like or not the current position we are in now, is partly due to the good work done by Gus Gould. It is just not all the work of Matt Cameron, Ivan Cleary and Trent Barrett. The nucleus of the current side was signed by Gus Gould in his time at the club.

Mid 2018- Luai was good enough to declare he was good enough to take over from Maloney..

2018- Gus has enough faith in Cleary to give him a long term, expensive contract

Now suddenly neither are the best half at the club according to the same guy that 12 months earlier declared both our long term halves?

RCG is ave 134m a game. Ranks about 12th in the comp. Far from the best..

So despite his knowledge Gus has plenty of agendas. In this case too focused on the juniors. This is just another case.

So more Gus is blinded than has no idea
