Franklin, you were in the anti Gus Gould camp.

Yes he loved the players, is that wrong. He truly believed RCG could have been the best prop in the game was that wrong, probably, because he isn’t and never will be but he is now delivering what Gus believed he was capable of delivering.

Whether you like or not the current position we are in now, is partly due to the good work done by Gus Gould. It is just not all the work of Matt Cameron, Ivan Cleary and Trent Barrett. The nucleus of the current side was signed by Gus Gould in his time at the club.

Not wrong but to love them but it is make him biased towards the next shiny thing

It’s not like the media has ever over hyped players after 1 or 2 games before have they? Just ignore Jack Bird, Coen Hess, Sam Tompkins and countless others over the years.

The media just loves to build up young talent because they’re desperate for a guy to market the game to bring in new fans but when the guys they constantly try to big up start underperforming they’re happy to lay in the boot for them daring not to match the unrealistic expectations the f**king media made in the first place.

Maybe just maybe we should wait more then a handful of games before we proclaim certain players to be the next immortal, but that doesn’t really get clicks I guess.

Mid 2018- Luai was good enough to declare he was good enough to take over from Maloney..

2018- Gus has enough faith in Cleary to give him a long term, expensive contract

Now suddenly neither are the best half at the club according to the same guy that 12 months earlier declared both our long term halves?

RCG is ave 134m a game. Ranks about 12th in the comp. Far from the best..

So despite his knowledge Gus has plenty of agendas. In this case too focused on the juniors. This is just another case.

So more Gus is blinded than has no idea

The Burton thing doesn't count. No one could foresee a guy coming in and out playing Luai like he did. We've never had so much talent in the halves all at once. NSW struggled for years to put up a good half now we have 3 at the club with 2 being able to play multiple positions.

It’s not a Knock on Nathan or Jerome to say Burton looks like he could be the best half out of the lot, Burton simply looks that talented. When you have Gus, Sterlo and Johns calling him special then there is probably a reason for it beyond getting excited over a shiny new toy.

I could be wrong but aside from Api and Tetevano 19 of our 21 selected players for this weeks game against the Sharks were either recruited or brought in under the Gus Gould regime. Even Api was brought to the club originally by Gus and allowed to leave by him for greater opportunity at the Sea Eagles.

The only reason we have Yeo, Martin, Burton and a host of others is because of the foundations built by Gus in the Central West of NSW.

Sadly, I’m not sure the current regime have the same priorities and while not there own doing (given there will be less funds available due to the Covid 19 issues) I think the foundations built by Gus are sadly going to be lost.

The Central West of NSW is a heartland of rugby league to add value to our own junior nursery but from what I see happening our former investments are not going to be maintained, sadly.

That is not a reflection on the current administration, but more a reflection on what COVID-19 has done to the club and its finances. I feel sure they would continue the investment if they could afford to.
15 of the 21 selected this week made their NRL debuts with Penrith, and 2 are yet to make their debut. This is a credit to all concerned including zGus.

Every team will cut back. We don't even know yet what grades NSWRL are running yet...So too soon to say either way how the club is looking to go

It does say what the mindset has been though. Explains the player turn over if after 2 years already looking at the new best thing.

So then it goes to how to fit all 3 in. Not who is better or not

Look at how Melbourne handled Brandon and Cameron Smith. Just because Brandon Smith is a talented hooker...Doesn't mean he misses out.

Mate, just acknowledge the good work that Gus Gould did. Our current side sitting currently second on the ladder is Gus Gould’s side. It is what it is.

Yes none of us know the future but we will be much the poorer if we don’t continue to develop our pathways in the Central West.

NSWRL hasn't even said what grades yet. I don't see the Andrew Johns and Laurie Daley going ahead... So we drop those sides

The Academies out there have low overheads. It is fielding the teams that is the issue. Fielding 2x Under 16's. 2x Under 18's is the sort of stuff that should be looked at not the trips out there to the High Schools

Mate, I’m not talking about our Under 16’s or Under 18’s I made the point the current NRL side still remains a Gus Gould side. That is undeniable. Apart from Api ( a former player) & Tetevano it is Gus’s side just accept it. It is what it is.

The pathways from the Central West were all Gus Gould and they delivered so many of our current NRL players in addition to our own juniors.

The current regime recruited Api who has been massive, Tetevano very good and Capewell who unfortunately has hardly played due to injury.

So going back to my original point this current side sitting second on the ladder is Gus Gould’ side is it not?

No it was a team effort under Gus' leadership.

See attached. Gus got Cameron in due to the good work he did at Parra with young players.

It was Matt Cameron that was the idea behind the academy. So why would the new boss allow the pathways he setup fall over?

We've all been saying to fit the 3 of them in the team.
