Newcastle have now had five - their closest rival is Cronulla with Four.

Not sure why Canberra are whinging - they've only had three allocated and the two already gone were massively successful by Canberra standards.

I don't have a problem with it at all. I was just stating what Canberra have been assured by the NRL as compensation for swapping the Roosters match.

Actually, I'm sure the Raiders wouldn't mind more home Monday matches after the great response for the last two... that said, it'd have to be on the proviso that we don't have to back up on the Saturday again... every other team playing Monday nights gets to back up on the Sunday, why can't we?

Not always the case - some have backed up Saturday IIRC.

You're correct of course, I was just bein overly dramatic.

Interestingly, the Cowboys were the first team to backup on a Saturday and win. Every other team that has backed up on a Saturday has been soundly beaten. Surely it's something Fox/9 need to look at.

You think the networks give a flying f**k about the workload and welfare of our players?

Round 14-18 the Knights have 3 out of 5 matches on a Monday night. What a f**king disgrace. I wouldn't care all that much if we needed to have Monday night games, just space them out a bit more FFS.

Not at all. It's no different to playing on Sunday and then backng up on the following Friday night. And that's happened countless times over the years without even a peep from the clubs. At the end of the day it's still just one game per week. Everything else is all in the mind. The clubs and players will soon get used to Monday nights and work out how best to deal with it and win. Just as they learnt how to handle golden point, limited/unlimited/limited (again) interchange and every other change there's ever been.

Leigh.

I think now they've gotten this far ahead they're scaling it back to one week at a time.

Another one to make the travelling fans happy. Expect a newspaper inspired "uproar" at some point in the next few months.

Would they rather Monday night Football again?

Boo hoo can't travel in on a friday night. Is this the same mob who complained about a lack of FTA coverage

Some interesting sentiments there. Whilst I welcome the Cowboys being on FNF, I wonder exactly what's wrong about a club wanting to host games at a time where they can attract the maximum number of spectators? Why would the needs of Cowboys supporters be less valid than those living in Kogarah or Balmain?

Is it perhaps jealousy at the dedication of some of our supporters, who consistently give up their time and money to travel up to six hours to support their team?

As for the complaints about FTA coverage...they were last voiced in 2004, by which time the Cowboys had not been shown on tele for nearly ten whole seasons. Regardless of club affiliation, you must admit that is an extraordinarily long and unacceptable period of time, particularly in today's economic marketplace. In the period since Round 25 2004, when the Cowboys played the Tigers on FTA, we have been shown on tele on average four times a year, which is par for the course in my opinion (excluding finals).

Personally, I now won't be able to make it to the game due to the change from Saturday to Friday, but that suits me fine (since I can now save my money and convert it into plane tickets for the GF, hehehehehehehehehe)

I was under the impression at the beginning of the season that each team would only be having 2 Monday Night games each. Where has that idea gone.

That wasn't possible. 15 teams - 25 rounds. 25 x 2 = 50

50/15 = at least 3, some would get four.

Newcastle, yes, have been dealt a harsh hand.

I think you'll find many Sydney clubs too have their loyal travelling fans that reside some distance from their teams base, that think nothing of spending many hours week in week out travelling to and from games. Nothing to be really jealous about

Before anyone says anything - I'm not trying to exemplify being a hero - but I can vouch for ink's point - I'm over an hour away for home games at Telstra. I think nothing of it tbh - but I'm sure there are plenty of fans who come even further.

I know Warriors fans that travel from Palmerston North, and probably further as well.

Travelling fans aren't exclusive to one or two clubs.

I should know - i'm going to Wellington in December for an A-League game.

Dodge, Ink and Victor - all valid points there. I hope what I was saying didn't come across as a personal attack. Of course, the Cowboys aren't in a unique situation with travelling supporters, but the logic of requesting Saturday games is so that all supporters have the opportunity to travel if they wanted, rather than only those within the greater Townsville-Thuringowa area.

Anyway, we could go on and on and on, I guess.....

I'm with you, there's no denying that it would be ideal to have certain teams play certain days but in awarding certain teams that preference, you're potentially dudding other teams of top attendances in that same vein. Storm 5:30 Sat, Warriors 2pm Local Sunday and Cowboys 7:30pm Sat and Canberra Sunday arvo are four ideal slots but it doesn't always work that way - the slots need to be shared around.
