yeh, I'd be happy with any sort of medal in the mens
I think you're as good of a chance as any...

I like the fact that you've resisted the temptation of bringing a big name player in for the tournament.... That's never really worked.

You need to be playing on the circuit for at least half a season just to get in sevens type of form and condition. I always remember the com games in Melbourne when the Aussies brought in Tuqiri, Rogers & Gietau... Only to be trounced by NZ who had specialist 7's players.

I think the key for Australia will be to make the 1/4's... And then work from there...

Just get in to the running... Because from the 1/4's onwards... It can be a bit of a lottery.

I congratulate the individual efforts of the girls, but I do find it hard to cheer for Australian Rugby Union in any form...

Hoping like hell Fiji win the Mens... that place will be going off....

Aussie were the better team. Very skilled and I thought coached better. I didn't think much of our tactics/gameplan at all which is rare to say about an NZ rugby team.

The refereeing was awful (2 big calls went Aussie's way) but didn't cost us the game. We have to be smarter than playing an extra 2-3 minutes with 6 players because we didn't kick the ball out.

What a load of horseshit... Australia scored off a knock on...

And the rest of the points come when NZ a down to 6 players on a dodgy yellow...

ohhh well... Good on the Aussies... They have been the best team for a long time... They would have won without the leg up...

Dodgy yellow? Nope

But yeah, Aussies were the strong favourites, and the better team.

Men will be interesting (at least as interesting as a silly sport can be) - fair few teams that could medal there... and heavy pressure on many, including Fiji, NZ, RSA for various reasons...

Charlotte Caslick is great. Definitely wasn't surprised to learn she has also played touch footy for Australia. Maybe Merge should swap her in for Benchy...

Yep, it happens

No. Yellow cards are for two minutes, and NZ were back to 7 players at the start of the second half. And as previously mentioned, a deliberate knock down in a potential try scoring situation is always a yellow in rugby.

Ive always disliked Union but for whatever reason I have always enjoyed Sevens. I could not be more impressed with the skills shown from the girls and a excellent result. I fear the men may be outclassed by the likes of Fiji and South Africa but in Sevens you never know. I hope one day Sevens outgrows Union similar to T20

They just did a thing on these girls on 7.30

They were hand picked by the coach from touch footy, union, hockey and basketball from all around NSW and Qld. The Aussie mens 7s tried to poach him but he wanted to stay with the girls and see it through to Rio.

So impressed were the ARU this squad is now fully professional for about the last year or so.

The men's team is an embarrassment, there's not a bloke in the side who would be able to get a start in the Ron Massey Cup. Of particular note is the angry bald bloke who ran away from a French attacker so as not to have to tackle him, leading to a try, then yelled at all the other twats in the team to make himself look tough. He'd be made a fool of if he joined his local OzTag comp. What a waste, if there were one of two NRL players in the side - or even a handful of Holden Cup players, really - Australia would shit it in.

Aussie mens beat Spain 26-12 then lost to France 31-14. We play RSA tomorrow who are unbeaten.

Kiwis lost to Japan 14-12 and $BW is out for the rest of the games. Won their next game 28-5 over Kenya

Yeah I found it frustrating to watch.
Again not sure they had the patience, France were very clinical though.
