Caleb Clarke is currently training with the Bunnies as part of Super Rugby pre-season (was spotted at training today).

Wonder if we will get salary cap relief if he chooses to sign when his Super Rugby contract expires.

He won't be signing for a NRL club. He's just saying all the right things whilst he's training with souths just like Jordie Barrett was last year at Melbourne.

TBH, I think Clarke would suit league better than rugby. He's been a bit disappointing in the last 12 months but I definitely think his style would be successful in league.

what is the drop in pay like if you aren't in the AB squad
Is the next best paying option to play union in Japan or Europe?
I'm not quite sure, but they get paid for each week they spend with the AB in camp. I think they get an extra $7500 per week (that was 3 years ago) each week they spend in the AB camp on top of their NZ contract (which includes Super and NPC). Top ABs are on 1m a year, Clarke would probably be less than that.

Moneywise Europe is the best option, Japan is best for workload/money split.

When you say Europe its really loads of clubs in France and 4 teams in Ireland as the rest are f**ked.

Politicians talk.

he’s saying all the right things to the right audience. Means nothing.
I'm sure it means something to NZRU and World Rugby Union, even if he never comes across.

Do you want one of the NRL stars saying that RL is just a job and he much prefers watching AFL? I don't

Again it’s just words.

in the long run it means nothing as long as union is #1 in NZ.
