Looks like between Eddie and Joseph, the ARU don't have anything left

80 million loan will be fully drawn

if either the union wc or lions tour aren’t a massive success they won’t be able to pay it back

For those keeping score

Rugby Australia took out an 80m loan with 15% interest pa ( 8mil repayments pa ) borrowing against the Wallaby brand as an asset ( whatever that means ? )

From the 80m loan they paid out thier previous loan leaving them with 55m

RA then settled the Waratah debts

The Rebels are currently suing RA for 8m owed to them.

RA are hoping a 3 test series against the Lions and World Cup will get them out of debt.

In other worlds, Rugby Australia is cooked.

They're going to accrue about $30 to $35m in interest over four years on the $55m. (Off the top of my head, too many beers and too late to be bothered to boot up Excel).

How the f**k are they going to pay that?

The NRL should purchase the Wallabies brand if it gets taken over by the lender. Perth Wallabies.

You'll see a bunch of Wallabies "stars" in alleys giving $5 handies. Or $10 for a gob job.

Pretty f**king LOL that the Feds are sponsoring Fijian Rugby with millions, yet at home they are broke.

Just looked it up as seems strangely low for a NZ team, it’s Moana Pacifica V Melbourne in Hamilton. Nice reminder for the NRL to steer clear of any “Pacifika” team ideas.

Yeah, it was two teams not from the area which actually has a very popular team of it's own, and it was barely advertised. One of my mates only realised it was in Hamilton when he turned on the tv - he lives 1km from the ground.

It was an extremely silly decision by the organisers. They should have played it in my home province in Napier. There's a few Magpies in the Moana Pasifika team and they get good crowds for Super games generally.

Mate, try visiting the Expansion forum.

Pasifika will make the NRL the biggest game on the planet, and people will embrace a FIFO team whilst Amazon will come begging for our TV rights.

New Caledonia is a big market....

My favourite is the Port Moresby - Suva - Apia - Avarua - Nuku’Alofa’ - Honolulu - North Sydney Oval - “Parts of New Zealand” - Pacifika Bears.

An actual idea from a professional organisation that we apparently need to bring back at all costs.
