No one that really transcends the sport, no. At least in Australia. In New Zealand probably, in South Africa maybe. Everywhere else it is pretty niche and there are certainly no global superstars from Union.
Would you say there are any global superstars from league?

League players would be famous in Australia, England, NZ and perhaps the south West corner of France.

Ben Te'o said when he went to play Union in Ireland he was surprised no one had heard of Johnathan Thurston lol

Union players would be famous in the UK, South Africa, France and NZ. Union isn't big enough in Japan, Argentina, Italy...etc for any players to transcend the sport.

SBW said it best, play league you're intensely famous in league area's, play Union you're semi famous in parts of the world.

It's a stretch to say an NRL player would be famous in England let alone the south of France IMO. If we are being real, the top NRL players aren't even famous in all of Australia.

When we talk of "global superstars" we are really limited to soccer (Messi, Ronaldo etc), the NFL and NBA mixed in with the odd individual sports such as Tennis, Golf, F1, Olympics etc.

Neither league nor union have anyone close to that.

Jonah was probably the closest at one point, for either code.

Pfft.

No respect given to the most infamous man in rugby league who would be a viral superstar today.

Hoppa.

The NZ Rugby empire struck back yesterday. While the Warriors were being crushed by the un fancied Titans, the Auckland Blues won the Super Rugby title in front of a sold out Eden Park. With Souths tragic Caleb Clark featuring strongly. Hopefully he’s not immune to Wayne’s persuasiveness.
Whose Caleb clark

Jolly good showing by Calvin Cork my dear chap, time to celebrate with a salt and pepper flavoured cucumber sandwich. Tally-ho!

Cut their funding (If they have any). Send their scarves and twill jackets to Vinnies. Offer Eddie Jones an assistant job alongside Siebs.

just finish the job and pack it up because RU is stinking up Australian sport.

Tiny sport ? .....but but but World Rugby claims Union has 1 billion fans globally!

That makes 15% of earth's population Union fans, only soccer can compete with Union as the world's most popular sport :laughing:
