I know someone who worked on the game. He said he's never been so ashamed of a project he's worked on. Said it's disgraceful to play, to the point that the whole project was broken up until a week before it was set to be finished.

Don't know what you are talking about, it certainly doesn't seem like a bad game at all, it certainly has more potential as far as the gameplay is concerned but it certainly seems much better than the previous efforts from what I've seen of it.

The last 2 efforts were pathetic anyway, so it's hardly a benchmark. I'm only repeating the words from someone who was heavily involved in the development process. The project was hamstrung from budget cuts and lack of personnel to begin with. They also couldn't use any previous code from the other games so they had to build it from scratch in a pretty short timeframe. The engine itself that they are using is a generic games engine, opposed to a specialised one, as such alot of sacrifices had to be made graphics and gameplay wise just because the overhead was pretty hefty for the wii

It would be damn hard to be worse than their first efforts, $80-$100, no chance - I've paid close to that for both of the previous two and still felt ripped off after returning them for a refund.

Absolutely no chance of getting that much from me this time around, in the immortal words of G.W. Bush:

"fool me once, shame on — [pause] - shame on you. Fool me — You can't get fooled again"

Well it seems like they haven't done too bad a job of it given all the hardships. I look forward to giving it a try.

So. What exactly is your motivation for making up these lies?

Firstly, out of the 4 RL games we have done, RL3 was the smoothest of all in the final weeks, not "broken" as you suggest.

Secondly, the budget was never cut. It was established well in advance of development beginning, and we received the full amount of that budget over the course of development.

Thirdly, the project was fully staffed from the outset, with virtually no personnel or resource issues arising during the course of development outside a single team member who moved to the US after five months into the project.

Fourthly, RL3 was not built from scratch. While we rewrote the graphics and animation engines entirely, we were able to leverage as a starting point large amounts code from RL2WCE (itself heavily "cleaned up" compared to RL2).

So, no, you do not know anyone that worked on the game. At all.

lol.. you rarely see someone get so absolutely, positively and irreversably called out on their bullsh*t than that.

i will certainly try this game before i buy (no offense, mario), but tbh i got enough enjoyment out of the first 2 that i can see myself sinking the cash to get this one, too. i reckon you're all a bunch of softcock tightarses if you wont buy this game - assuming it does improve on the previous two. Rome wasn't built in a day, and league fans should all be putting their hands up and getting a copy... because if we don't, no-one else will... and we'll never get an AAA rugby league title.

Spot on perverse, we have NO hope of getting a top-of-the-line, well-budgeted rugby league game ever again from any company if we don't support the current ones and SHOW there is a market for it.

I'm undecided on whether I will buy it yet, i will probably wait for reviews and try it before I buy, but if I do it won't be because of this nonsense.

Do you watch rubbish movies to prove there is an audience in the hope that they will make a better sequel?

How about music? If a new band puts out a crappy album will you buy it to encourage them?

I will buy RL3, if it is good.

Fair point Adam.

But I also get Timmah's point. For example say we have some Aussie director who's just made a solid movie but it could be that much better and he'll get the resources on the sequel to make it that great.

That's sort of the situation here.

I won't be buying this one though.

I will however get the PS3 version when it comes (at least Chrisco thinks it's coming :D)

All I know is it looks much better than Rugby League 2 and by most reports plays better than Rugby League 2. That's enough to convince me to support Sidhe and buy the game.
