Unlike most I actually liked RLL3 and still play it on the regular. With that in mind I'd like to see this game be similar but:
- Gameplay improvements, props should mean just as much as the backs and halves. You would get punished in RLL3 for throwing it around which I liked but you should be able to win a game off a strong forward pack and if you run at a little guy you should be able to break the line. This makes things more interesting in a franchise because instead of signing up the quickest backs you need to use strategy and decide whether you want to be based around forwards or the backs/halves.
- Franchise upgrades. If you're the NSW Origin coach you should be able to pick from EVERY NSW player available. This is 2017, this feature was available in one of the Rugby Union World Cup games from the early 2000's so Big Ant are at least 15 years behind. Additionally players should significantly improve based off your coaches (And you should be able to sign coaches just like you can sign players) and I'd like to see realism where clubs like Canberra, Newcastle, Warriors etc have to pay overs for star players.
- I touched on player development but the only way for a player to improve in RLL3 was by playing first grade and it was SLOW. I think some determining factors should be involved so for example if you're playing as the Knights and your halves combination is Brock Lamb/Jaelen Feeney then both men would develop slower than say Cameron Munster who is regularly playing with Slater, Cronk, Smith etc.
If you want to, you should be able to pick the reserve teams and U20's teams. This means not only do you have to focus on your NRL team but also building reserves through good signings. Want your 18 year old half to develop fast? Throw him into NSW Cup with an experienced half and see if he sinks or swims.
- Would like to see player profiles improve. A tab showing how many Origin games have been played, Australia games, City Vs Country etc should all be there. In that tab should also be a "reputation" meter which helps decide rep team for the CPU. So for example, a guy like Cameron Smith would have a 5 star reputation which would mean he's pretty much in every representative team. This meter slowly grows throughout a career and improves with more rep games, awards, big match experience etc.
