Not necessarily.

Say attacking the blind, you wrap and call for the ball, guy runs into touch in while in the process of receiving the ball.

No means of cancelling the play or, you know, not running out of bounds. Same deal with forward passes.

I think thats more of a programming fault rather than the physics of a game being problematic.

The bigger issue with physics is that the only players who could break a tackle (once the tackle animation had starter) were usually halfbacks. The fend before a tackle worked fairly well, but once a tackle was started, the lighter the bloke, the better his chance of breaking out of it for some reason.

And that's before we talk about the fact that if you ran a conventional hit-up with a prop, you'd be lucky to make 3m a play..

"Both teams are in good form with the ball" - it's supposed to be Origin 1.

The attention to detail is still lacking by the looks of it. Plus I don't think having Eddie Hemings commentating with Voss adds to the immersiveness.

That looks terrible, the whole stadium seems dead and the HUD looks like it's from the 90's.

The faces look okay but still cartoonish.

An English commentator with Voss is geniused too.

Everything in that looks dodgy.

And why the hell is a random pommy commentating Origin with Vossy?

It’s pretty bad when even the Big Ant Forum regulars are bagging it. Though they are probably all banned now.

Looks DBC 17 all over again. Charge full price for a last gen graphical showing and then make 4 patches over 8 months to bring the gameplay up to any sort of standard.

I like how the players kind of look realistic but if they wanted the rest of the game to be realistic at least have Suncorp Stadium full, have an Aussie commentator next to Vossy and don't say how the teams are in form when its clearly Origin.

I remember in Rugby League 2 when you played Origin mode, Vossy's commentary before the match would be "I'm looking forward to this contest, mate against mate, state against state".

But it might be a bit different when they release it, who knows.

That actually somehow looks worse than RLL3, lol... and I'm a massive apologist for these guys.

Unlike most I actually liked RLL3 and still play it on the regular. With that in mind I'd like to see this game be similar but:

- Gameplay improvements, props should mean just as much as the backs and halves. You would get punished in RLL3 for throwing it around which I liked but you should be able to win a game off a strong forward pack and if you run at a little guy you should be able to break the line. This makes things more interesting in a franchise because instead of signing up the quickest backs you need to use strategy and decide whether you want to be based around forwards or the backs/halves.

- Franchise upgrades. If you're the NSW Origin coach you should be able to pick from EVERY NSW player available. This is 2017, this feature was available in one of the Rugby Union World Cup games from the early 2000's so Big Ant are at least 15 years behind. Additionally players should significantly improve based off your coaches (And you should be able to sign coaches just like you can sign players) and I'd like to see realism where clubs like Canberra, Newcastle, Warriors etc have to pay overs for star players.

- I touched on player development but the only way for a player to improve in RLL3 was by playing first grade and it was SLOW. I think some determining factors should be involved so for example if you're playing as the Knights and your halves combination is Brock Lamb/Jaelen Feeney then both men would develop slower than say Cameron Munster who is regularly playing with Slater, Cronk, Smith etc.

If you want to, you should be able to pick the reserve teams and U20's teams. This means not only do you have to focus on your NRL team but also building reserves through good signings. Want your 18 year old half to develop fast? Throw him into NSW Cup with an experienced half and see if he sinks or swims.

- Would like to see player profiles improve. A tab showing how many Origin games have been played, Australia games, City Vs Country etc should all be there. In that tab should also be a "reputation" meter which helps decide rep team for the CPU. So for example, a guy like Cameron Smith would have a 5 star reputation which would mean he's pretty much in every representative team. This meter slowly grows throughout a career and improves with more rep games, awards, big match experience etc.

From Ross: "It's not pre-rendered. It is all in-game rendered by the game engine, recorded in real-time."

Lol
