We have an 80 minute hooker in Nathan Peats. We're not bringing anybody in to play minutes at hooker, just like we're not bringing anybody in to play minutes anywhere else in the spine.

But it's good to have those positions covered by others already in the 17, in case of injury. The only club that wastes a bench spot on a spine utility is the Roosters, and they're the only club that can afford to. It's also possible that Jake Friend can't reliably play 80 minutes.

Well everyone has to have a 'backup plan' in case of serious mishap.

But what I'm arguing (and I think you're agreeing with) is that we wouldn't be signing Buhrer as a hooker. If, for some sad reason, Peats was injured, we wouldn't be turning to Buhrer and saying 'play the 80 at hooker son'.

Or if that IS the plan, then I hope we don't sign him. Because he's as bad as Kenny Edwards was at hooker.


And re: Ricky knowing what he's doing by playing Buhrer at hooker in Origin? Um, no. I think Ricky clearly demonstrated a stubbornness to 'do his thing' until he failed hard enough, and only then would he cave in (all the while arguing that was his original plan).

When was the last time somebody in the middle of the front row actually played at the ball when feed into a scrum.

I missed the early part of the segment on Triple M but they were discussing the fact that Tim Mannah was trying to squeeze some extra dollars out of Parra by shopping himself around to other clubs.

Edit - At least that is what I got from the conversation...if anyone caught the whole thing than please correct me.

Plenty of players extend their contracts with a year to run - so it's all sorted before the footy starts and there's no distractions. This also means they don't test their price in the market.

Parra have made him an offer of what he's worth. Why would another club offer more than that?

We have to pay extra for external signings. If we have to pay more than other clubs just to keep the players we've already got then Mannah may as well just f**k off. If we're paying more than a player is worth then he's not an asset, no matter how good he is.
