Penriths recruiting has left ours for dead.
In the last two yrs - Lewis brown-Segyaroo-Roberts-Sika manu-Whare-Kite-Wallace-Soward-Idris-K.Naiquama-Eljah Taylor-Peachey-

Smart recruiting, watch out for this team next year

They also let go of a few non-performing big name players. Would have freed up plenty of salary cap space.

Add to that all the potential first graders pumped out by their 'academy' and you can see how they've managed to buy half a team.

i'll take hopoate, norman and peats over that lot any day of the week.

the only player from that list i wish we tried to get a few years back when he was available is lewis brown.

Segeyaro's an impact player. Good if you have another first grade quality hooker on your roster, but over 80 minutes I'd prefer Peats.

Please.... Segyaro, Taylor, Idris, Naqaima and Peachey are corner stones of great team for years to come.

Corey Norman had his work cut out for him BIG time.

Some of the kids they got coming through are excellent I.e Moylan and Docker.

Penrith have got a GM and a head coach on the same page heading the the right direction. A polar opposite in comparison to wats been going on at parra. Let's hope DA and BA can work with the same cohesion and stability.

after letting go michael jennings, luke lewis, lachlan coote etc etc you would expect they replace them with some level of quality.

comparitively speaking, they haven't signed any stars. they don't have a hayne/inglis/sbw etc and i believe they need to be to be taken seriously.

i still have them competing with us in the bottom half of the 8 somewhere

Overrated IMO. Most Panther fans I know don't even see him as a long term prospect in their side.

Moylan will be over taken by Watene-zelezniak. Outside of their halves which will be an interesting setup I believe they have recruited very well. They pushed for a top eight spot last year and will be in the mix again this year. Peachey should never have been allowed leave the Sharks and the likes of Bryce Cartwright and VTK will continue to improve. Blokes like Kite will allow the youngsters to come through. They have a five year plan. Very similar to ours however it was done with smarter recruiting at the first grade level.

I'm not putting shit on this young bloke, and he has massive wraps on him; but, I believe he is still unproven at an open age level.

He was not the first choice fullback in the Pennies NYC side last year.

Moylan is proven at a 1st grade level. I reckon it is a wait and see situation.

The same goes for Cartwright,

Didn't you say in one of your other threads than we're a lot closer to winning a comp or making the finals then Penrith are?

You don't really need a Hayne or Inglis if you have an all round competent squad... look at Manly over the past decade. The thing with Penrith is they have a lot of good young players who are only going to get better. People keep saying that we'll be better off next year with Tanginoa, Paulo, Pritchard to improve, well Penrith are a year ahead of us in that regard with the players they've graded already showing the goods in first grade. They seem to have a good plan, and Gould is a smart operator. They only just missed the finals this year after their injury toll kicked in, I'd expect them to go better next year with the side they have.
