Ummmm....how many have you seen try? I mean it was a very smart piece of thinking (which is what sets it apart)...but it's hard to judge the drop kicking ability re other strong drop kickers.

I've seen a million and one.

It's my f**king opinion. You don't like it, fine. I don't f**king care. It's my own f**king opinion, smartarse. It's what a f**king forum is f**king for. f**k.

OK. So you can have your opinion, but I can't respond to it?

Are you feeling OK Eele? That seemed like a somewhat out of character response to one of the forum good guys.

I think Gasnier at his best was better than lyon. But Gasnier wasn't at his best most the time so yes overall Lyon superior.Where do people rate Hodges? I rate him the best centre ive seen. His injures slowed him down but a great career

You haven't watched a lot of rugby league have you??

Fittler and Daley were better centres than Hodges and Gasnier. Lyon would be very close to equal with them as a centre. They were as well two of the best five eights to play the game as well.

Hodges is a very good player though but Gasnier enjoyed a love fest from Channel Nine comparable to that of Johns, Cooper Cronk and Mitchell Pearce. That isn't to say they aren't very good players but they aren't the greats Channel Nine beat them off to be.

Well I see fitler and daley as 5/8ths so did not count them.
Hodges fully fit is best centre I have seen-Lyons is amazing but his attack is not in the same class of Hodges.Justin makes something out of nothing-Lyons needs an overlap or a nice ball.Plus Lyon hasn't played for Australia and Origin (even by his own choice) as often where Hodges has performed great.
Lyon edges him in defense but I not sure how you see him as better in attack

As far as centres go, Fittler and Daley weren't a patch on the 'Bradman of League' Dave Brown. I remember the day he scored 5 tries and kicked 15 goals for Easts against Canterbury.

You don't remember Miles and Meninga?

It is all relative. Considering I've watched a lot of football since the seventies I have seen some great centres. Comparing them between the five metre rule and the ten metre rule is a bit hard. Of who I have seen under the ten metre rule, outside of Meninga who was able to play under both rules, Fittler and Daley would still be the two best centres I have seen, under that format. The other bloke that is often forgotten amongst centres is Steve Renouf who did some amazingly freakish things on a football field.

Meninga, Miles, Cronin, Rogers, Kenny..... The list under the five metre rule is endless. It is a different style of football and difficult to compare eras. I never saw blokes like Fulton at the peak of his playing career but the bloke is an immortal.

Hodges and Lyon would be two that could sit alongside a lot of others I have seen. Gasnier however IMO was a decent player but more was made of his famous surname than his overall playing ability.

Agree with the Gaz was overrated comments. Gus blowing his load every time he touched the ball didn't help.

Spot on, a great centre in the modern game. I would rate him above Hodges.

Inglis, also rates high in my book; blew Gasiner of the park in every origin they played against each other.

I have a theory Gus blows his load to inflate a players price so the club has to pay more.
He prob laughs about it
