At least 50% of NRL coaching is Roster management, this includes coaching staff.

You’re correct, he does this very well.
Uncle Nick does it well. Throw him in as head coach of the Tigers and he's not going to land the same quality of players and have so much cap space to work with each year.

oh, so you know that actually happening.

I’m sorry, I don’t buy into conspiracy theories, until I’m shown that it is happening, I think it’s far more likely that the Roosters are operating like all the other clubs. They just do it better.
I accept your final comment that until you are shown something you will choose to believe it’s all above aboard and that is fair enough. But again, just because you haven’t been provided with evidence doesn’t mean it’s not happening.

Uncle Nick gets who Trent Robinson wants. He managers the finances, he doesn’t do the selecting.

That’s true, but I hear a lot of stuff, mostly about our club and I’m glad it’s not true.

The last one I heard on FB was the Panthers were over the cap and this had resulted in betting on them for a top 4 finish had been suspended. Jump on sports bet, yep betting was suspended. Hmmmmm.

Reality - The Panthers had secured their spot in top four and could no longer be bet on.

For the record, if it turns out they are cheats and Robbo is a fraud, I’ll be the happiest man in this chat forum.

I can’t stand Robbo, I think he’s a arrogant flog.

but fair play, he’s an amazing coach.

Hetherington's departure will help us retain who we want to keep. I won't say who but there are a few that are off contract at the end of next year, who's managers are agitating for their clients to receive an upgraded deal for next season too before they commit longer.

No but burden of proof is a thing for a reason.

Of course most managers are like that since their own pay is reliant on it.

IF we win the GF, is the value of the whole squad is going to be revalued, especially for any new Panthers that make it to the SOO side.

Would this mean that we won't be able to sign new players, and rely on the next salary cap to top up the player's salaries to ward off interest from other clubs?

They still haven't confirmed next years salary cap or the ones after it. Most clubs are preparing for a 5-10% reduction.
Win a premiership and break into Origin will no doubt push prices up.
The club won't overpay nor be played by managers. Value for money will be firmly in the club's plans regarding any new purchases.

I hope the players are Spencer, Jerome, Matt and Stephen?

I won't say who's managers are agitating but I have said Crichton will be staying.
I am not worried about Luai.
The other 2 talks are continuing. Just on Burton he has done everything the club has asked of him. He has trained hard and been open to trying other positions. The club has presented a plan to him that he is a big part of the club's future. He is still developing and has shown a keen attitude to learn.
There has been no trouble from him given the lack of first grade opportunities or resevre grade this year.

The lesson is mostly not signing guys to silly contracts in the first place. This is more about us freeing up cap space than it is about the player, if it helps us re-sign Burton or Crichton then it’s worth it. Especially as it’s only one year.

Completely Agree, we had a similar issue 8/9 years ago with Jennings/Lewis etc. The trouble is so much money goes into potential doesn’t it.

At the risk of being burned at the stake, I really rate Critta but we run the risk of him being a centre on big bucks if the honeymoon is over in 2 years time. His star quality is apparent but signing on potential always exposes us to these issues. I don’t actually mind paying overs to keep the ones we want to keep, just don’t think we should have to pick up the bill when they/their managers want out

I guess we just trust the powers that be and enjoy the ride!!

The agent game from the inside is rotten to the core, I’m an Agent for a living, Cricket mainly, but also Football (Soccer!) and Rugby accredited, have avoided league in UK for now.

You go to these agent meetings, try and build rapport with people and other agents, seem to make some ground. Next thing, your clients are being tapped up by the very same person you were chatting too, within 24 hours I’ll get a message from one of my guys saying this guy or that guy has messaged me.

I absolutely love what I do, Cricketers for the most part are easy to deal with but the agents are no different to any other sports’ agents. Dog eat dog.

it’s probably why I’m not and will never be the “biggest” agent but the bad agents are like a cancer and ruin it for a lot of us!!

Shameless self promotion below if you know any good cricketers or young league players that fancy a crack overseas in rugby that maybe haven’t quite made the Grade in Oz! Then I’d be happy to talk to them!

I think Gus got carried away with some contracts, hopefully we’ve learned our lesson.

Crichton is a pretty rare talent. I’m not worried about giving him 500-600k.
