I won't say who's managers are agitating but I have said Crichton will be staying.
I am not worried about Luai.
The other 2 talks are continuing. Just on Burton he has done everything the club has asked of him. He has trained hard and been open to trying other positions. The club has presented a plan to him that he is a big part of the club's future. He is still developing and has shown a keen attitude to learn.
There has been no trouble from him given the lack of first grade opportunities or resevre grade this year.

That’s because Burton is a pro with a level head. Great kid, I’ve know doubt what ever he decides to do, it will be the right decision.

Thought we’d learned our lesson with Blake/RCG et al with regards to playing someone to play elsewhere. It’s my biggest gripe with the system.

if you want to take an opportunity to play elsewhere, no worries but be stuffed if we’re paying for you to leave and play elsewhere. I’m sure he isn’t taking unders to go and play at the dogs after the decent year he had so why the f*ck should we pick up any part of the bill!!

It’s not a Reynolds/Mbye that are chewing out so much cap space you HAVE to make a scarifice. Just shows how bad RL people are still at managing caps.

when I sell the app I’m building to Microsoft or Google in the next 18-24 months for stupid money, Mr O’Neill is getting a phone call. My promise to you all is we’ll never lose a player we don’t want to lose but that will come with a caveat that we will never be paying for some toss pot that doesn’t want to be here to play against us!!

rant over...maybe I’m just over aroused and taking this worse than I normally would because it’s QUALIFIER WEEK!!!! get in pennies, we’re going to absolutely hammer the bunnies. Penrith 13+. Marto to take care of Su’A and Yeo/Fish to take care of Cook, Reynolds/Walker to go missing. Luai to show again why he needs to be locked up long term on Sat night.

over and out as I face day number 19 in a row of rain in Norfolk, bugger...

I had a lazy $10 on Luai @ 23/1 to win the Clive Churchill Medal . I previously backed him at 17/1.

Hetherington's departure will help us retain who we want to keep. I won't say who but there are a few that are off contract at the end of next year, who's managers are agitating for their clients to receive an upgraded deal for next season too before they commit longer.
Managers for you:mad:

Haven't heard much on Yeo.
Are they looking to extend him?

Is the club focusing on younger guys like Burton over Yeo because they're that confident Yeo will stay even when clubs are allowed to formally approach him?
Theres no way Whare is on $460k. Not as part of a 5 year deal.

We signed him after missing basically 2 seasons of first grade. Noway he got top dollar on a 5 year deal.
Gus did love overpaying for his players...

It is Gus..look at some deals he did. I can believe it
Outside of our import signings, very few of our deals ever had public figures even speculated. But lately all thd figures thfown afound add up to us having a $15m squad easily

You can see how importing guys like Tamou would break the bank. Multiple clubs fighting to sign him means you're paying top dollar. Tamou. Merrin. Maloney etc. You cant help but get stuck paying a fortune. If we didnt they would have gone somewhere that did. You want rep players to pick your club you have to pay them at or above market value.

But the media had guys like Whare and Mckendry signing 5 year deals after multiple injuries and very little game time. And Mckendry after us trying to get rid of him from the overpriced contract he was on when Gus arrived There's no way these guys are being chased by multiple clubs throwing big money toward them when Gus gave them 5 year deals.

Makes no sense to offer an injury prone player such a long contract at higher than his market value. There's absolutely no upside for the club.

We got caught out predicting the cap to rise plenty more then it did. Predictions were for $12m in 2020 season in that case $460k would be bang on average.

For a few seasons there we were wondering why we had to let guys like CHN go with no one coming in. Bryce was on decent coin and was replaced internally. So a few guys had to be on overs as a result

If we still had Waqa and RCG on the books fully we’d be having a lot more trouble retaining all these players that we have coming off contract. It’s annoying that we had to pay some of those guys contracts to get them to go but it has worked out beautifully for us imo. Those contracts were big by all reports and our team has improved out of sight we were able to take that hit in our cap because of all the young guys who could do the job for much less money and now whatever we are paying will be finished this year or next and we will be using that cap space to keep who we want as the young guys demand more money.

If we had them then guys like Crichton wouldn't of gotten a start. So we are much better off

A Story in the SMH today. Says Crichton's new deal is $500k a season... Good deal for both much better then the Waqa one.

Has Cameron's quoting Crichton's dodgy knees as a teenager so it might be accurate

Exactly. Its not a good way to operate moving forward but in this instance its been great, the club obviously had some faith in these kids coming through and the faith has been repaid this season. If we can keep Luai, Critta, Leniu and Burton along with who we have signed then I honestly think it could be one of the best moves the club has made. We let go of an origin half along RCG, Waqa and Dallin and we have been able to sign a couple players and promote from within to improve to put together one of the best seasons in the clubs history. If we can keep the core together which includes Yeo, Fish Nath etc along with the younger guys I mentioned than wow, it will be a risk that paid of in a spectacular way even if we dont win this week.
