No-one is asking for a release.
It is a tactic some managers use when clubs want to re-sign up and coming young players or players that quickly break into rep teams. Manager's often demand an upgrade of a current deal before a new deal is agreed upon.
That is why we all of a sudden need cap space for next year.

Lodge at best will cost us 400k same as hethrington. So no chance we willsign him .I am still holding out for that last spot on the roster.Bourbons and cheer girls gets me under the cap nicely lol

The concern is the club doesn’t seem to be putting much weight on our success in 2020 being heavily influenced by our prop rotation. No point having gun backs if your halves can’t get them quality ball.

Nathan in particular needs a dominant forward pack for his style of play.

If as reported Jack was on $400k (a Gould contract) that was probably overs at the time he was given the contract but in the current market, new rules probably a steal given Jack is ideally suited to the new game. Fast, strong just coming into his best years. Leaving aside for a moment his discipline issues Jack is potentially a bargain at $400k.

I was being facetious Alice. Moses not likely to ever be more than a 40-50 minute player at best just pointing out our predicament.

Even if we end up retaining and extending the contracts of Crichton and Lenui how many players do we actually have signed up? Are we not two, three or four short of fulfilling our 28 or worse still a 30 man squad.

As I have been told we simply are not in a any position to grant early releases to Burton or Laurie because there positions would have to be filled ultimately by players who would cost us more.
