I am a little concerned but I will wait and see the finished product. Hopefully we get the re-signings we want and pick up a player or two.

Jane you clearly haven’t followed me for any length of time.

I think there have been times over the last ten years or so when I have been heavily criticised for being too up beat and that includes the era even before Gould took over.

You clearly miss the points I try to make.

As a ten year old on the old hill watching Manly beat us 70-7 or so was a downer but I am still here, long term member, and those who know me know I don’t only watch our NRL side but I watch the Matt’s, Ball, Flegg just love the game and our team.

I think I am offering an opinion around our recruitment and retention post GF which hasn’t been that great whether you choose to accept or not.

I’m not saying Matt Cameron’s job has been easy, far from it, but as someone who has supported our club for almost its entire history, I think I am entitled to express my opinion that perhaps the management of our salary cap could have gone smoother and we shouldn’t be in the position we find ourselves in.

As things currently stand, it is probable we will go into 2021 with an overall squad with far less depth than we had this season. Maybe, given our success that was inevitable, but it is disappointing even if you accept it was beyond our control.

It is what it is Jane, I have been around for 50 years and I think I am somewhat qualified to express my opinion.
Clearly I have. I am entitled to my opinion, as you are to yours. That is a pretty clear concept.

were you there as well, I was there as well, bad day that

And you like me are still here Bob. Well qualified to offer comment around current events. I think that day probably in many respects made me a better supporter if that makes sense.

It does, it makes perfect sense

You’ve got Martin starting at prop despite him never even playing a FG game there?! WTF

Any team with Eisenhuth & Jennings in the team isn’t stacked 1-17, it’s still a very good team, but the forwards are way weaker than 2020.

Ok then start him edge with Capewell on the bench. Either way still got the majority of what was a very dominate team in 2020

Jane you have suggested I am a doomsayer. That is just not me. I am far for up beat than you give me credit for and clearly you don’t know me.
I don't know you, however, your posts are negative. All I am saying is give the Panthers staff some credit. They have inside information that we do not know about.

In the last 12 months mate I've found you to be very negative when posting about Panthers.

I'm only going on what I see here on league unlimited.

Yep I'm a flag waver I'll admit to that. I try to look at the positive in most things. (that's just the way I roll, my reasons for this thinking I prefer not to go into)

As to how long you've been a supporter (or not) does not make your opinion more or less valid that anyone else's.

Yep I would have loved to have Crighton, Lenui, Lui, Yeo already signed up. But that's not reality.

I will disagree strongly with you about 2020 Many of the players were on cheap (often very cheap deals)

Off the top of my head I believe these players will get major upgrades. Crighton, (Bizza happening during year). Charlie Staines, Lui, May, Yeo, Lenu, (that's 6 players without thinking about it, I'm sure there is more)

Would you drive a car with no engine and still be happy
Or would you try to improve the car by buying a engine.Kilkenny makes informed posts. You reply they are negative. He is posting his views on how to improve the team
This forum dies if we all drive the car with no engine.Positive negative is all a opinion .Read enjoy

The prop rotation will have significantly changed, a key ingredient to our dominance.

As I mentioned in another post, the well run clubs don’t spend crazy money on centres. That’s what we’re starring at right now, and it looks like it’ll weaken our prop rotation even further.

I'm not suggesting anyone drives or buys a car without an engine. The club is not doing that.

I looked back to 12 months ago when Kilkenny was bemoaning the loss of Blake, RCG and Katoa. In fact made mention of the fact that Api was no better than Katoa.

So there was basis for my post.

The maths of paying Crichton so much it means we have to let go of a third prop does *not* stack up.

No look since end of 2019 on that 17 I posted

Edwards resigned - Probably stayed the same

Staines - Started 2020 on development deal. Even on $300k is 4 x more now

Crichton - would be on less then $200k now. So even $600k is 3 x his deal

Naden- due but we should get him cheaper now

To'o - re-signed through the season. Easily could of doubled his deal

Luai - rumours were Gus re-signed on $300k. Should cost us double this time

Cleary - 2020 was his 1st year as a million dollar player. Before that probably $400k

JFH - no change

Api - $500k. Manly were chipping in $150k or so. We have full freight for 2021

Martin - was on a rookie deal. Would be $400k or so now. So atleast double

Kikau - no change

Capewell - $300k

Yeo- now SOO player. Likely Captain should get $100k rise

Leinu - Rookie deal will atleast double

So plenty of guys on rookie deals now on normal money which pushes others out

See above. We have a stack of fringe guys/rookies now in the top 17. All getting paid at same time pushes other guys out
