I don't beleive JAC only got 500k a season from the Dogs. I feel atleast 5 or 6 other clubs would of offered him that. And we know Cotric got 600 or 650k. Why would JAC sign for less.

I wouldn't offer Spencer more then 350k-400k a season. The guy looks like he could be exposed in defense with those tree trunk legs.

Roberts and Sing weren't our juniors, and Jennings was shown the door.
Juniors or not, penrith put them on the map, and them being them swoop in and take them, i remember when Amos got signed, so many fans were dirty, i heard them taunting him to hurry up pack his shit and leave already, giving him the upper class spray

Amos had one really good season, or to be more accurate about two thirds of a really good season, in his entire career, and it was with us, the first two thirds of 2004. As soon as he signed with the Roosters, he reverted to shit.

JAC looks great at the Storm. Lets see how his form goes. He is fast but doesn't make the hard yards. Worth looking at his origin stats compared to Toupo.
Once his speed drops a little he will be ordinary. Not powerful and kind of small. His speed may never drop. But one injury can change that.
Big wingers are safer imo. They have other attributes. Id rather Too.

Me either. They add 50% usually, but they've subtracted 30% at least on this occasion.

650k would be my guess. Most quality backs are demanding 450k+ Rep quality would all want 550k+
The fact people rate him the best winger in the game(not me I rate Noafalmua no 1) means he would of been offered more.

That one year deal is a great example of needing a team option for a second year on any one year deals. Geez he was on fire in 2004.

Wingers though?

JAC wanted to play fullback, so if the Dogs were smart they’d put in clauses about making it as a fullback. But 550-650k for a winger is crazy, especially with the cap going down.

Transfer news: Canterbury, St George Illawarra and Penrith close in on targets | Daily Telegraph
Canterbury, Penrith and St George Illawarra are poised to lock-in some key Christmas signings while another NRL player is expected to quit Australia for England.

In some frantic late-year player movement, The Daily Telegraph can reveal:

*Canterbury is closing in on 110kg Penrith prop Spencer Leniu;

*Brisbane back-rower Jamil Hopoate has been linked to Penrith;

There was increasing speculation on Wednesday night that Leniu was close to joining the Bulldogs, who have won the race to sign Melbourne Storm winger Josh Addo-Carr for the 2022 season.

Leniu has a contract with Penrith for next season but the 20-year-old could arrive at Belmore for 2022. Bulldogs officials lodged their offer for Leniu several weeks ago and were just awaiting his response.

Canterbury coach Trent Barrett built up a healthy respect for Leniu when an assistant at the Panthers. Leniu’s impending arrival continues an impressive recruitment drive by new coach Barrett.

It appears Penrith’s Malakai Watene-Zelezniak has also joined Canterbury on a train and trial deal, joining his brother and fellow former Panther, Dallin, at Belmore.

It continues a trend of Panthers players defecting to Canterbury following the Bulldogs’ capture of Matt Burton and Jack Hetherington.

Penrith have identified former Brisbane back-rower Hopoate, the brother of Bulldogs star Will, who was one of more than 20 unsigned first-graders. He would offer Panthers some depth after the club lost Hetherington and captain James Tamou.

Hopoate, whose brother Albert Hopoate joined Canberra last week, made his NRL debut in round one this year and played 12 games for the Broncos.

He previously played at Manly and Parramatta but was sacked by both clubs for off-field indiscretions. He served nine months of an 18-month jail sentence after pleading guilty to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company in Manly in 2014.
