I'm struggling to see or understand the 'woe is' menality at the moment.

Maybe I am just a positve person.......

Perhaps some retention talks could have started earlier, but with the bubble, shortned season and Penrith playing grandfinal it's been a bit out there.

The players that have left have done so to suit their own needs.

Will Burton re-sign I have my doubs especially when you see the money being flung around by the dogs and sharks. I would like Burton like Lauire to hand round in 2021

Hopefully Crighton and lenui re-signs......

I did notice that Bill Kikua is being listed as a prop now.

Also I believe Jennings and Matts signings were smart to offer depth. Both have talent.

Personally I'm told old and too ill to worry about who signs and who chooses to move on.

For me footy is not life and death it's a bit of fun.

Alice as a famous Scotsman and Liverpool FC manager once said in words to the effect of, “Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don’t like that view, it is much more important than that?” His name was Bill Shankly for the record.

We just enjoyed a season being in the penthouse suite we don’t want to to go to being in 2/3 star digs the following season. We are better than that or should have been if our management had done there job a little better. We should not be seeing our roster being decimated after one successful season.

But we haven't been "decimated" in any way

We have lost a veteran prop who was on overs here for leadership. We now have Yeo and Fish leading the pack.
We also lost a 30 year old winger who wasn't going to be in our top 17.

This panic is bizarre
The loss list is not over yet.The panic will stall when and if at least two of the possible losses get signed

We picked Staines over Laurie and Luai over Burton. It sucks but these calls look right.

Spencer is a bit of a blow but we are stacked with rep forwards. Yeo, Fish, Kikau, Capewell. Martin is also very close

It sucks to see guys you rate go to other clubs but it's hard to argue against this as well. Sometimes you gotta choose and we don't exactly have a team of bums.

There’s been a lot of outs both during and post season.

During the course of season both Blore’s one of whom in Shaun is highly regarded, Jed again coming into own and figured for the Bunnies late in there season and Kaide Ellis.

Post season Tamou, Jack, Aekins along with MWZ, Hollis & McGrady. Mansour is only weeks if not days away from confirming his new club.

Daine Laurie signed with the West Tigers from 2022 but will almost certainly be granted an early release.

Doubts around Lenui, Burton, Crichton and Naden and where there will be in 2021.

That’s a fair chunk of a squad that took us to the GF this even assuming we are optimistic of keeping the big three?

Given we are going thru a lot of pain with our salary cap I think it is fair to assume whomever we bring in to fill our roster will not be a good as the players who have left

Even if we re-sign all of Lenui, Burton, Crichton and perhaps Naden our overall roster looks at present slightly weaker at best.

The natural progression of our young guns has us stronger. As long as we pick up a handy veteran prop or 2

Do you not think we should have had the likes of Spencer Lenui locked up already?

It is the young guns who are being aggressively targeted and are in danger of losing.

If we somehow manage to keep them all well and good, but I just don’t see how we got ourselves into this position.

We have lost/released a lot of players, in an attempt I assume to free up salary cap space and till will tell whether it is enough to get us over the line for the big three.

Look at the amount of origin and internationals in our 17.

Crichton refuses to commit to Panthers with club set to meet new manager

Penrith will meet with Stephen Crichton's new management this week as one of the game's hottest rookies refused to guarantee he would remain at the club beyond next season.

Crichton was expected to sign a new three-year $1.5 million deal with the Panthers once he switched management companies at the start of November.

The 20-year-old told the club and coach Ivan Cleary he would honour the deal once he parted ways with his former agent.

But Crichton stopped short of declaring there was a handshake agreement with Cleary, and maintained this week he simply wanted what was best for his family.

"I'll see what's best for my family," Crichton told The Sun-Herald. "I have a new manager and when I get home [from Blues camp] I'll start chatting with them and see what happens."

When pressed if he could guarantee he would remain at the foot of the mountains once his deal expired at the end of next season, Crichton said: "I'm not sure".

"I spoke to Ivan, the handshake ... I told him I'll see what's best for my family and things like that. I didn't have a manager at the time. Now I've got one, so I've left it with them to look after.

"I was committed [to Penrith], but I'm seeing what's best for my family as well."

Penrith fans will be sweating on Crichton recommitting to the club after his breakout season in the centres outside Viliame Kikau. He was rewarded for his form by being selected in the NSW Origin squad and while he never played against Queensland, was grateful for the experience and chance to rub shoulders with some of the game's biggest names.

Penrith also have a battle on their hands to retain Matt Burton, who has attracted serious interest from Canterbury, while Isaah Yeo and Jarome Luai are both off contract at the end of next year.

The Panthers believe their current offer for Crichton is perfect for a player entering just the second year of his NRL career. They are loathe to pay their local talent too much too soon for fear the financial reward will put them on an unwanted pedestal.

Crichton did not want the negotiations to drag on and simply said "hopefully really soon" when it came to reaching an outcome.

The Sydney Roosters have been linked to Crichton, and are in need of a centre once Josh Morris moves on at the end of next year.

Crichton said none of the Roosters had tried to sell him the Bondi dream while in Blues camp.

The Mt Druitt local knows rival teams will know how to handle him a lot better next year, and it will be up to him to overcome the second-year syndrome. Latrell Mitchell even referenced the challenges Crichton would face next year when speaking from personal experience on the Bloke In A Bar podcast recently.

Daine Laurie signed with the Wests Tigers this week, but is on a development contract with Penrith next season and will not be granted an early release.

Burton will also be kept at the foot of the mountains next year, even if he signs elsewhere for 2022.

Meanwhile, another Crichton, Angus, has been taken off the market by the Roosters, especially with uncertainty about the future of skipper Boyd Cordner.

Several clubs had expressed interest in Crichton, including the Wests Tigers, but rivals had since been told the gun forward would be going nowhere.

Crichton, one of NSW's best players during the Origin series, told the Herald during Origin camp how he loved the Roosters and wanted to commit to a new long-term deal.

I'm not quite ready for the sack cloth and ashes garb just yet. What will be will be.
