Gagai is a great attacking player but one of the worst defensive centres in the comp I reckon.

Can play fullback too

Even if Hopoate signs elsewhere and he continues with the matter in the courts, is the NRL going to allow us to register further contracts? I presume if Hopoate wins such court case that the damages payment will have to come out of our 2016 salary cap (and perhaps beyond)??

He does have defensive deficiencies...
Munster??? He's 20 and has been in the Storm system under Slater. You couldn't have a better pedigree as a young fullback, being someone that has played 5/8 means he has ball playing abilities as well. Throw Gordon on the wing and we suddenly have a backline that will do our halves and forwards justice.

Maybe Gordon???? Davis steps up?? And of courser Super star Morgs....... I just think if we manage to sign Munster we would be nuts not to play him at fullback. The guy has come in for Slater and has barely missed a beat.

There is no way the NRL would slug us for his previous cap hit if Hoppa signs elsewhere. What they might do is consider charging our cap with the difference (ie, if we were going to pay him $600, but he takes $450 with someone else, they might charge us $150) - but bear in mind the contract is NOT registered, and the NRL aren't asking us to put it forward for registration.

They seem more sensitive to the importance of fixing the blunders of Seward than some of our fans are...

It's now an issue for the courts. There is no point in the NRL asking as to put the contract forward for registration at the moment. If the case runs its course and, as I would expect, Hoppa wins we'll certainly be hit for damages of the type you describe (and they'll hit the cap too).

I don't see how you can infer that the NRL are sensitive to the importance of fixing the blunders of Seward. They're just doing nothing.

I would prefer it not be Idris, and am concerned that Penrith are looking to move him on. Yet to finish a contract at any club and lacks motivation at times.

Munster would be interesting, can't see it happening but allows Gordon to head into the centres where he has played before. Davis also looks a possibility given his 'return' to form and being pushed in to NSW Cup.

Yeah, that's what I meant, the difference in each contract.

So, will the NRL allow us to spend up to our full cap before a decision is made, or will they inform us that we have to keep $150k spare (using your figures) in case Hoppa is awarded damages?

I would presume that the club will want to settle this out of court though before it gets that far.
