Other then Foran, the rest are average or well passed it. The kicker though is that our team is so below average that even these acquisitions will improve us by heaps.

And by that I mean Foran.

I reckon Gordon went alright in 2015. I think he will add a lot to our team.

If Beau Scott can re-focus and get back in form, he should add plenty, too.

Big if, though....

I get the feeling that we are currently seeing Michael Gordon's last efforts. Until the backend of the season he was kind of cruising along. No doubt he'll be an improvement on our fullback options this year, but that's not really saying much. I see him as the kind of player who will fire if the rest of the team is.

That's ok. We don't need him to be brilliant to be successful. Just be solid and if he lights up off of the teams good form, excellent.

Only one's we need big games from every week is the forwards. The rest just need to do their jobs.

From Brett Read of the Australian

Parramatta Eels centre Will Hopoate has received some interest from the Melbourne Storm according to Triple M NRL's Brent Read.

Hopoate has reportedly been involved in a couple of contract disputes this year to the point where he has considered legal action.

"The Storm are interested in William Hopoate, that interest is on going.

"William Hopoate is interested in the Storm and I believe there is interest from both parties," Read told Sydney's Triple M Rush Hour.

The 23-year-old was signed to the club as a marquee after he returned to the NRL following a Mormon mission in 2012-13.

Yeah I honestly don't think he will. I see him having a similar form slump to Watmough and lose his Origin spot.

Choc was good in defence he was just poor at the start of the year in attack and once he stopped trying to be a ball player he looked much better. He tried to do too much, he just needs to do his job but he was trying to go beyond what we needes from him. I've got no doubt that next year he'll be better.

Who's going to take Scott's spot in NSW?

There are plenty of NSW edge forwards.

Anyway just because a player stops playing Origin doesn't mean he's no longer a quality first grader. Plus his club gets more value from him because he's no longer unavailable for a couple of games at Origin time.

Scott will not play origin again.IMO.

Good tough player and didn't we get him on the cheap? He is a step up from Gower but i reckon Tepai and Manu will be better players then Scott atleast when he is in his second year with us - 2017.
Him and watmough will start 2016. In 2018 i would be very suprised if both are in our top 17. Perhaps on the bench. Guys like Teapi-Pauli-KE-Mau will just be phyically in there prime. And these guys will be brunt out and injury prone.
If we get a good 2016 and 2017 out of them both we should be happy thou. And maybe a bench spot 2018.
Beau is already injury prone and plays his last year at age 33/34
Watmough will be 35 when he finishes. His last year wont be pretty IMO. Plenty of time at Wenty

The good thing is thou if we use them smartly and only play them for 50 mins a game we could extend there careers

We can score points but our biggest problem is defence plus lack of leadership. That's why Arthur wanted Scott, just his defence on the edges makes us a better side - and he can still defend. He is never going to be 100 plus metres a game forward which is what most fans notice. The defensive side is what goes unnoticed.

Unless your name is Chris Sandow.

I dont know how it would work but i wouldn't mind playing 2 locks during our matches (ie watmough playing as a prop and Scott playing as a lock) for a good 40min a match.

I would start
Mannah, Peats, Paulo, Manu, Scott, Watmough then bring on the likes of Tepai for a prop and move scott towards the middle. This would stiffen up the defence in the middle third as well as give us more latitude in attack.

Scott was very ordinary for Newcastle this year. Hope he has a big form turn around for us in 2016.

He was playing similar to Tep except with better defence. We might lose a little bit in attack but we'll be much better with starting defence and Tep will be taking Pauli's spot on the bench so we'll have a hugher quality player over a longer period.

When did Brad Arthur tell you that?
