I don't agree.

The sharks have a lot of problems ATM and its hard for them to focus on re-signings.

What player manager is going to recommend a player re-sign with the sharks until their future is clear?

If carney waits too long positions at other clubs will get filled and the sharks will be able to low ball him.

Total beat up, never mentions anything about Carney. By that logic we haven't ruled out any of these players: PLAYERS OFF CONTRACT 2013
