maybe Izzy is signing with the Eels immediately after the S15s which ends in 3 weeks ?

unlikely though, no World Cup

State of Origin: Stem cells give new life to worn-out knees
http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/...new-life-to-wornout-knees-20140525-zrnjs.html

I think Jacob Loko might be a prime contender for this and seeing how young he still is may even get better results as the article suggests.

Anyone know what he has had done so far?
depends what injuries he's had in his knees. if recurring acl tears then this is irrelevant. if torn meniscus my understanding is that it won't help either. the cartilage on the end of the bone is a different story but i don't think that's where loko's problems are.

Why does this rumour of BA and Tonga keep coming up? I reckon he's done a good job and can't see how he'd be on big bucks. Morgan is a good back up only IMO...

I think Morgan is as good as Tonga, but Willie probably gets the nod due to the experience he brings to our young side.

Anyway, if Tonga really is in his last year with us (I thought he had another year) then he might have received an offer from another club for next year on the condition that he joins this season.

In that case, letting go of Tonga could benefit us, him and whoever he signs with.

The twitterverse is getting a boner about Tonga -> Dragons.

The Oracle ‏@BigOtrivia 2h

Surely Peter Doust has to go. The Dragons recruitment is the worst in the NRL. Apparently they are now chasing Willie Tonga . Mercy

Hien Le ‏@HeinekenLe 4h

Hearing Willie Tonga is off to Dragons. As long as he finds a home to play the sport he loves a bit longer

kenny hedges ‏@aflswansyd 4h
@RLW_Mole willie tonga to dragons before June 30 ?

Nesian Rep League ‏@NesianRepNRL May 23
Reni Maitua, Willie Tonga & Sonny Bill Williams were living together in 2004 whilst playing for the Bulldogs.IDKT #NRL #NRLCBYSYD

If there's any truth in it, I'd hope they are considering using any flexibility gained by re-signing and extending Matterson (I know he's not a centre).

honestly i'd be upset if Tonga left. He brings that experience in the back line we need especially on Semi's side. With Semi Radradra still getting the grasp of the rules having an experienced Tonga there helps him massively. Tonga has got fit for this season and is paying the club back for handing him a contract when he looked on the scrap heap at Cowboys

un;ess the Izzy rumours are true and we are trying to free up a decent contract to take him on. I'd presume Tonga would be close to about 300k and if we can somehow get Dragons to take that whole contract then that frees up 300k that we can give to Folau and NRl can top it up under that new marque player thing.

Unless its not to bring in a class player i'd rather Tonga stay due to his experience for Semi on that edge

Things are going well so far this year. Leave them as they are. If we have to replace Willie next season then so be it but as long as he is under contract and playing well then if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Parra signed Tonga for 2 yrs on a BIG deal.He spent most that time injured.Rick re-signed Willie for his training ethics and too be around the young guys coming thru.He even said even if Willie doesn't get fit he is good to have around the club.I doubt this would be a big contract he is on.And I doubt it would be more than a yearNeither Willie or the club would of wanted that.Tonga would know if he gets fit he may end up scoring a 2 yr deal to end career while club wouldn't want too risk him for to yrs.

The only thing I can see is if its a amount of games played incentive based contract.
Should we re-sign Tonga for next year is the bigger question.

I understand that Tonga signed for a smaller amount than would be expected for a player of his standard to repay the club fter being out for 2 years. Suggestion was that if he played 10 to 15 games , he would be a bargain

Be very starnge if he was let go mid season, doesn't appear to be something BA would do
