I think the best thing smith did was Jason Taylor-Brad Drew-Beuttner-shifcokse-Stue Kelly-Dean widders.Lets face it they where average first grader when he brought them here and what times they had at parra.

The signing of Morrisson-Stringer-Hodgson-Tahu-Raper ridell and the bulldogs 4 where all great for our club. We didn't win the title but he always had us competive bar a few re-building year

1998-4th-game before GF
1999-2nd-Game before GF
2000-7th-did well to get to game before GF
2001-Minor premiers-we all know what happened
2002-6th
2003-9ths-just misses top 8
2004-12th-Biggest failure-Still won 9 games thou
2005-Minor premiership
2006-Sacked

So Smith spent 9 full seasons at Parra and took us too the final 7 times.5 of those times in the top 4 and twice minor premiers.Also 5 times to the game before the GF.Only winning 1/5 and somehow loosing 2 that looked won.

I guess this was was made the fans so sour.But overall what a great 9 years we had

To be honest, our finals efforts post-Smith ('06, '07 and '09) have been better than in the Smith years. In fact the only team to beat us in the finals has been Melbourne (while cheating).

Of course, we haven't made the finals in over four years.

I believe Smith was approached for the job that DA took, but he wanted more input in overall control of the playing group. Sharpie did not want to negotiate as he wanted the coach to have that responsibility. BS wasn't happy that he couldn't have more control, the rest is history

Good decision by the club then, i would have kept Smith as far away from the playing group as possible. shame because Smith would have had plenty to give to the club.
