Looks like he's a replacement for Sam Burgess for next year, and the sweetener for taking most (all?) of his contract is they get him this year for free.

Or something.

Also looks like inu to the tigers and proctor to the dragons. No one to the eels

Pass on inu, but proctor would have been a decent pick up at the right price. The dragons are a bit like us. Lots of mid tier props and back rowers, but very few standing out demanding to be picked every game (Mannah and Merrin the exceptions)

In our current side where would you play Buhrer? I doubt he would come across from manly to continue to play off the bench in paulo's role. Would he be our starting right edge backrower? Play in the middle?

I don't think he would care where he plays if he is going to earn double what manly is paying him.

It will no doubt depend how well he performs. You dont want your good players on the bench, you want them on the pitch.

Some starting props spend alot of time on the bench too if they dont have much to offer.

We should all wait for Pou's expert opinion on this.

Penrith Panthers

|CLUB STATEMENT|

In response to some media reports regarding player Tim Grant, Panthers Executive General Manager Rugby League Phil Gould today confirms that Tim will not be leaving the club.

?It is my hope and I?m sure Tim?s hope, that he gets to play many more years with the Panthers, and that would be the best result for all concerned?.

The club and Tim will not be making any further comment.

Well let's assume that we keep the same bench system as this year, then we would play 5 props (2 starting, 3 bench) and 4 backrowers (3 starting, 1 bench).
Players I expected we will keep from this year going into next year are mannah, lussick, mossip, Terepo, jnr Paulo, allgood and gower for props. Ma'u, Edwards, kelepi, loko, Pauli as well as jnrs like ualesi and santi for the backrow.
Now considering all this, can Buhrer keep out two of kelepi, loko and Pauli? And this is me assuming someone like Joseph Paulo is not around which he may well be.
The reality is kelepi, Pauli and loko will just continue to get better and they all can fill a similar backrow role with potentially a higher ceiling. Would Buhrer back himself to start over these guys, I'd say yes he would think he should but should parra pay big bucks for a guy because of his utility value and potentially play him in wenty? I'd say no. For an average wage I think we should take the risk but not worth paying overs for his type of player especially when there are guys like ualesi and santi who may be able to fill a similar void.

afaik

but it seems the Dogs can do whatever the f**k they like

3rd party deals are organised by the club and not the player nor his manager

The player manager is responsible for additional personal sponsors of the player, ie Adidas with Hayne. That's a deal set up by his manager and not the club

The club instructs the player manager what portion of the deal is provided by the cap and what the club can source in 3rd party deals.

3rd party deals is a major issue at our club at the moment.
