I didn't say it was my idea re: Loko displacing Tonga. But it was something I was told by a member of the coaching staff.

So on the back of the SMH stirring up trouble regarding the third party payments for Hayne and the Dogs now tearing up Fifita's contract I give it less then 24 hours before we have the back page feature of Hayne to the Dogs.

Should give both papers a nice little boost in sales.

Well let's assume that we keep the same bench system as this year, then we would play 5 props (2 starting, 3 bench) and 4 backrowers (3 starting, 1 bench).
Players I expected we will keep from this year going into next year are mannah, lussick, mossip, Terepo, jnr Paulo, allgood and gower for props. Ma'u, Edwards, kelepi, loko, Pauli as well as jnrs like ualesi and santi for the backrow.
Now considering all this, can Buhrer keep out two of kelepi, loko and Pauli? And this is me assuming someone like Joseph Paulo is not around which he may well be.
The reality is kelepi, Pauli and loko will just continue to get better and they all can fill a similar backrow role with potentially a higher ceiling. Would Buhrer back himself to start over these guys, I'd say yes he would think he should but should parra pay big bucks for a guy because of his utility value and potentially play him in wenty? I'd say no. For an average wage I think we should take the risk but not worth paying overs for his type of player especially when there are guys like ualesi and santi who may be able to fill a similar void.

The reason Buhrer would be a certainty in our top 17 is because he is a proven first grader, and he is a different type of player to so many of our young edge forwards.

There is not a chance in hell that we would let Hayne go. Most players have exit clauses in their contracts should 3rd party deals fall through BUT the Eels would have a window whereby they would be able to plug the hole before Hayne would be able to exercise his right to walk.

Massive news!! Something obviously went wrong with the Bulldogs deal. Bulldogs will probably turn their attentions to hayne which is typical of the grubby club that they are.

The same way you claimed sio was best winger in preseason and I think you rated semi and 3rd or 4th choice and the same way ma'u was in jail s few years ago and without an nrl debut at 25 and now our best backrower. the past is the past and that's where it stay, Buhrer has been behind players like Harrison and horo who were languishing in wenty here. His versatility and experience gives him an edge but he is far from assured a spot in our 17 if he does come over. Atm ma'u and Edwards are locked in starters with kelepi the best forward we have produced since Hindmarsh. I say bring him here for the right price (I.e a fringe first grader) and he his worth it and will probably play plenty of footy but if you pay overs you risk it costing you a potential star like kelepi

CANTERBURY has sensationally terminated the rich contract for Cronulla Test star Andrew Fifita.
The Bulldogs signed Fifita earlier this month to a four-year deal worth a reported $3.5 million.
Fifita is said to be shocked at the decision.
Canterbury has been accused of having too many forwards for next season after signing Fifita.
The statement from the Bulldogs stated that they had advised Fifita’s management that he would not be playing for the club “given the final terms of the NRL Playing Contract could not be agreed.”
Bulldogs Chief Executive Raelene Castle said: “After signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Andrew we’ve not been able to agree on the final terms of his NRL Playing Contract and have ceased negotiations with his management.
“We wish Andrew all the best for the future” Castle said
“Andrew is disappointed that we could not finalise terms with the Bulldogs but we still have several options in the pipeline to explore,” Fifita’s Management Group I.am Athlete Management said.

Last week Fifita made the contentious statement that he actually wished he had defected to rugby union.
“If I could go back now, I wish I chose rugby and then I wouldn’t be getting all the s*** I’ve been catching now,” Fifita said.
“I grew up playing rugby so it was one of the best things.
“It’s always going to be there and I will eventually go to union.
“It’s another dream and I just want to chase another dream.
“I’ve pretty much got everything in rugby league except a premiership and that’s all I really want, and to win an Origin series.”
Fifita became one of the hottest properties in rugby league after a breakthrough season in 2013 which led to Origin and World Cup selection.
It is believed the Sharks offered Fifita a deal worth $700,000 a season before it was announced that he accepted the Bulldogs offer.

Buhrer has missed four games in the last three years. He has played every finals game since his debut in 2010. He hasn't been behind anybody.

His versatility and experience gives him an edge but he is far from assured a spot in our 17 if he does come over.

Why would we buy him as a fringe first grader? Why would he come here if he wasn't guaranteed a spot?

Tanginoa played Holden Cup on the weekend. He has plenty of time. And if we sign Buhrer it doesn't mean we will keep him forever. If you've been watching these past few years you'll notice some signings are only temporary, to give youngsters the opportunity to develop properly in the lower grades. We are very inexperienced in the back row, and we lack leadership in the playing group. If we sign Buhrer it would be for a reason.
