Third Party Agreements
Third party agreements are payments made by companies directly to players. There is no restriction on the amount a player can earn through third party agreements where he is being paid for his own intellectual property, without the need to employ club logos or names and where the company involved is neither a club sponsor nor are they acting on behalf of a club to secure the player's services. An example of this is a player promoting a brand or product, for example, Billy Slater and Australian Bananas.
Many players have third party agreements that are outside the salary cap. Individual players registered third party agreements totalling in excess of $10 million in 2013.
All third party agreements must be registered and approved beforehand. This is to ensure that they do not become a way for clubs or players to use sponsors or third parties to undermine the salary cap and also for the game to ensure the protection of club and game intellectual property. There are provisions for club sponsors to enter into agreements with elite players under the Marquee Player Agreement allowance.

Or for example, Melbourne storm and Australian bananas, whereby Melbourne storm pay Australian bananas for sponsoring billy slater.

It's all legit.

It still gets down to a players market value and that is determined by one person.

Well let's assume that we keep the same bench system as this year, then we would play 5 props (2 starting, 3 bench) and 4 backrowers (3 starting, 1 bench).
Players I expected we will keep from this year going into next year are mannah, lussick, mossip, Terepo, jnr Paulo, allgood and gower for props. Ma'u, Edwards, kelepi, loko, Pauli as well as jnrs like ualesi and santi for the backrow.
Now considering all this, can Buhrer keep out two of kelepi, loko and Pauli? And this is me assuming someone like Joseph Paulo is not around which he may well be.
The reality is kelepi, Pauli and loko will just continue to get better and they all can fill a similar backrow role with potentially a higher ceiling. Would Buhrer back himself to start over these guys, I'd say yes he would think he should but should parra pay big bucks for a guy because of his utility value and potentially play him in wenty? I'd say no. For an average wage I think we should take the risk but not worth paying overs for his type of player especially when there are guys like ualesi and santi who may be able to fill a similar void.

The assumption by lots on here is that Loko is definitely moving into the pack and I don't think this will happen for a while yet. When he comes back I am hearing that he will displace Tonga.

As in as soon as Loko is match fit, mate?

Tonga has got to be one of the form centres this year and with no hodges would probably be favourite to take his centre position at origin so I doubt Loko will displace him any time soon but can you leave him out of the team? If it was me I would have him play a utility role off the bench and play as a left edge backrower similar to what Pauli played last match. Of course each to his own.

For mine Loko is 4th in line for a centre spot. He is rubbish in defence, can't set up his outside man and never hits the ball with any sort of momentum.

Surely there is no way Loko is taking Tonga's spot. Tonga is playing good footy and is forming a great combination with Semi. Why would you mess with that.

The key thing there is it will be a LONG time before he's on the field, was told last week that round 10 is possible but was updated to a lot longer than that over the weekend...

I agree. Tonga is a big reason why Semi is getting the space that he has been.

Apart from Sio/Toutai wing spot, our backline is set.

That sums it up. Would have to cut out Loko altogether to get Semi one on one. Tonga is creating the space for Semi.

What's actually wrong with him Stags? Is it still the knee, complications or a new injury?

+++1. Tonga has showed how he can get on the outside of his man with good footwork. Footwork that Loko simply does not have.

As for Loko finding a space in the pack/bench when we have the current bunch + Darcy and Moose to return - best of luck with that Jacob.
