The Sims boys would have to be an upgrade on B Smith and Fui????

We would probably nearly get them for theirs salaries, throw in Sef Paulo as well.

Glenn Stewart just signed with Souths for a reported $600k/year. I recon Sims would be looking for something close to the same (Sims is the better player IMO) so I reckon the salary of Smith and Fui combined wouldn't cover Tariq.

Not to be harsh, but I think most of the league world would safely rate Glenn Stewart as the better player.

Tariq HAD potential, but can he still cut it at the top level due to his injuries? He'd be available at a discounted rate as a result - I would imagine $250-300k would be an 'upper echelon' price tag for him.
Ashton Sims would command $100k less.

So we would go very close to replacing Fui and Ben Smith with them

At the same price you would take Proctor over Sims, but I doubt Sims expects to earn what Proctor is alleged to be asking. The market is not completely stupid....there are known risks with Sims that are not present with Proctor, and Proctor has superior recent form.

I might well be on my lonesome, but I think G Stewart is close to the most overrated player in the comp who is living off his performances from 4-5 years ago.

Souths payed massive overs for a guy who is injury prone and over 30, Proctor is a good player but worth nowhere that sort a coin. Another Adam Blair IMO.

i agree re: proctor being unrealistic with his agents valuation, but remember until proctor signs anything, an agents valuation is all it is.

souths had some money to spend on replacing burgess so if 600k is true for stewart it isn't too far off what a tier 1/2 backrower would command. wether or not you would classify glen stewart as a tier 1/2 backrower is a different question but he has the runs on the board premierships, rep jerseys, clive churchill, dally m positional awards wise to justify actually being paid that figure as opposed to asking for it.

Is there a better right edge backrower than gstewart in the comp? His skillset in attack is unique, and he isnt afraid to hit in defence.
The only concern ought to be age and injury.

I think Thaiday and of course SBW are better.

But I agree the only thing dropping Stewart's price are likelihood of injury and drop in form during the next contract.
