Good news.

If we are able to add Tariq Sims and McKendry, I reckon we'd have a very solid pack next season.

Not keeping any of Kelly, MoiMoi, Joseph Paulo, Sio, Smith and Toutai should free the coin to make them reasonable offers.

If we're smart about it, we could upgrade guys like Ualesi and Folau (+2 others) to minimum contract status in the top 25, thus freeing the cash to make a splash at those 2.
In a dream world we would take on their current contracts so that we get them this season

Nathan Meritt. ? Might as well get Luke Burt back. At least he can kick goals.

Can't believe we would be interested in Merritt, I don't care how cheap he is. Sio is a much better option, and would still be cheap to retain.

Of that list of front rowers, James Gavet would be my pick. Surely the Tiges wouldn't let him go?

As for Merritt, I wouldn't even take him on the minimum.
I doubt he'd come for that anyway. He could make some good money in England.

i agree on gavet. there are some very good up and comers there, treborvic, hala and lloyd perrett the other obvious listings

There is a guy at Canberra called Sam mataora? He is 23 and 115 KGS.
Would be cheap and could be a decent depth signing with potential

I don't really see how any of the names thrown up so far (other than gavet) answer the problem of lack of experience size and aggression in the front row which we have all been complaint of?

Dept signings are easy to fix, let's sort our top 25 first then work on the depth signings.

SOME of those kids though aren't necessarily just depth signings, SOME of them have enough attributes to possibly be the next stars of tomorrow. after all, they've all got to start somewhere

Sure, we need to identify the right ones but I think we should look within first, I think there's plenty of talant there already.

Benji's a Dragon it seems.

I guess Michael Witt was never going to be the long term answer. Didn't they pay a shit load for Sam Williams (Currently playing for Illawarra Cutters). Did he forget how to play ?

As pointed out, Sam McKendry is 115kg, is closing in on 100 FG games, and has chalked up 8 tests for the Kiwis already.
Is noted for ripping in with both his charges and his defence.

Not sure what the complaint would be if he came our way?

They did pay big for Sam, and seems he did forget how to play.

It happens - part of the reason why signing established 'top of squad' guys is important before throwing cash at 'up and comers'. (not saying the Dragons had much to choose from - but in the context of the discussion around here, probably worth noting that up and comers sometimes fall flat after pay day)
